Just bought a 5 year old domain

I just bought 48money.com from freshdrop

It's five years old.

I intend to sell it but the folks at namepros don't think it's worth much so now I'm thinking of putting up a blog, adding some articles, getting some traffic/sales, and flipping it in a month.

I'm new to the site flipping game so I'm wondering if you think this would be a good plan.

Also, if you know a bit about domains, I'm wondering what you think about my domain:

48money.com

I guess I had the IM mindset and could see a product in there somewhere.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I am not sure that is worth anything other than registration price. 48money.com? 48hoursmoney.com would have been better imo.

  • i don't think it's worth anything.

"aged domains" are only worth something to me when they haven't expired and have aged links and pagerank as well

anyone can use the same tool as you to get some domains they think are old

Domain Age: How Important Is It for SEO? | Search Engine Journal

"Website age (and its backlink profile age) is what really matters;" I agree, if this domain, 48Money.com had the same content in the past 5 years, then yes, you could get top rankings.

But as I can see on Archive.org, this domain NEVER had content. They just redirected it. So it doesn't matter whether it's 1 or 5 years old.

I'd agree with the NamePros lot, the domain itself isn't worth too much.

I have a 11+ year old domain, however even that is only worth a tiny bit more predicated upon its age (the domain itself is worth $xxx, but not due to its age)

Setting up a blog on it could be an idea. I still do think that a domain does matter a bit to Google et al if it's an old-ish one. Certainly, I think that Google will be more likely to trust (even if it's only a tiny bit higher) a domain that has been around for years, compared to a newly regged one.

If you have an idea in mind that you think it it would give you more than selling the domain for a low price then DO IT!

That's my advice. Try to find the best way to use this domain, like you said, may be right it a blog about what things you could do for example en 48 hours... there you have a world of possibilities. Since the domain is 48money it can be any subject about that. For example:

48 ways to make money in 48 days
Start earning money in 48 hours
48 tips about how to make money....

You can find a lot of ideas if you search hard

I think you should do a forex review site on and do some article marketing.

Here is some history on what your domain was used for

    September 2004

    http://web.archive.org/web/200512111...ne=48money.com

Upto June 2007 it was used for the same purpose then went dead

This website must also have been owned by this Bruce Berman | Bruce A Berman | Berman

As he was using it for a product. With this goto BRUCE A. BERMAN
    and offer it to him

With this history I am sure you can make use of this domain

My advice- develop as planned into a simple blog, put fresh articles

Find a way to brand that name
48money- making money in 48 hours
48money- Making money in 4 to 8 hours

    stuff like that!

And you can review some money making ebooks [as an affiliate marketer] and make money from that.

Whatever you do, don't leave it blank.

I sold a name not too long ago after domainers in a forum had ignored my sales bid. What i did was similar put on some content, then pitched it to an end user, he liked the concept and bought it off me.

Just my 2 cents, hope it's worth something!
