Recently Turned 18 And On My Own-Looking For Mentors

Hey guys, so the title really says it all, I have recently turned 18, 3 days ago at this point and a lot has changed. I currently am out on my own living with friends. I only have a school laptop to my name right now though I just got another personal on on the way. I always have had great drive and dedication, and knew I would be successful, but I don't know how to get there in all honesty. I have loads of business ideas but lets be honest that is not gonna happen for me right now. I have been on the internet just about all of my life, I have never really learned any development skills, but I did learn a bit about online business with a game I used to play. I want to use that knowledge and hopefully get to gain a lot of information from people on here who are willing to share. I was told that there is no better way to learn than from someone who was actually able to seduced doing it. I am open to everything, the only thing I have attempted and when I say that I tried for a week on each, I know its not a lot of time but I had no clue what I was doing. I have tried CPA leads, n email marketing. I want to know what the best things to do are, I am willing to dedicate 3-5+ hours a day learning and trying everything. I am very desperate to start making money, I usually do landscaping and that is about over with winter so I am also looking for a new job IRL.

I hope I can get some guidance from everyone, everything you guys have to say I will note and love to hear,

    Hi Trevor,

    Welcome to the forum.

What was the game you used to play and what knowledge can you leverage there?

Also what knowledge can you leverage from your landscaping experience?

I'd suggest you still get a job so you have some income coming through whilst you can work out what you want to do.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

The game was minecraft, I ran servers and made money on donations. I was also able to sell builds and other things like OG names. I have learned how to talk to customers fairly well through my landscaping job. I plan to get a job and go to college, I plan to major in Business maybe Business Administration, and minor in marketing. I hate the landscaping job and I hate being told what to do by people so I would hate just about any job. This is what brought me here, I am familiar with the internet and I know there is tons of money to be had, I just needed to learn how.

    Trevor,

Welcome to the Warrior Forum. I would suggest you frequent this place often and learn all about Internet marketing in your spare time. I agree with Ozi that securing full time employment locally would be your first step in order to take care of yourself and pay the bills. When you have self-imposed pressure to create a profitable online business, it rarely is a positive thing.

Consider your skills, talents, and hobbies and what it took to get good at them. Do you play a musical instrument? Do you play on an organized sports team? Do you speak a second language? All of these skills take time to learn, practice, and refine - you don't get good at them without a lot of effort and work.

Ditto for creating a money making online business. It's not going to happen overnight. Sadly, for most people who begin IM, it never happens. Take your time, learn the basics and stick to one money making model or system and get really go at it. You don't have to know everything there is to know about online money making . . . understanding one profitable system then applying it again and again will make you money.

    The very best to you,

    Steve

    Trevor,
    Welcome

Let me start by saying that if it is feasible I would continue your schooling in College. There is not a day goes by that I really appreciate doing that myself. It's something no one can take away from you.

In mean time , hang out here and go look at some previous Threads using Search and just start absorbing.

A few hours a day consistently is plenty of time to start part time doing this

    Very true.

This is why you see people selling their time for pennies and selling products under wholesale. Anything to bring in any money because they are desperate.

As much as it pains me to say it, get a J.O.B. for stability and a little money to invest. Take your time and stay focused.

    Hi Trevor!

So this business is just that - a business.

If you are serious, see if there are some freebie business courses being offered somewhere in your area.

It will help you with planning - does not matter if you are doing online or off.

It can help give you structure to managing what it is you will need to do, and force you to ask yourself some important questions.

    Welcome Trevor,

First off, I hope that landscaping job is steady so that you don't starve..

Second, I hope you hate that job so that it drives you to succeed online.

Ok, once you secure the job you hate. You're going to need an IM education.

I recommend becoming a war room member and using the the WF search bar.

What ever questions you may have can be answered here or on youtube.

to get the basics down for free in a step by step fashion then i also recommend you become an affilorama member.

    best of luck

If a teen from a third world country can make good money online, then I think a young person from the United States can too. Bamidele Onibalusi from Nigeria started blogging in 2009 at the age of 16 and has become a successful freelance writer, earning thousands every month.

So the question is what skill or talent do you have that could be of value to business owners? Check out freelance service sites like upwork.com on what jobs you can do that you can earn money on.

If you are interested in learning more technical skills/web development, check out bootcamps that defer payment until you already have a job.

You can do something on fiverr, peopleperhour, upworks, seoclerk, freelancer, even here on warrior for hire section. Collect your investment until you have enough to open your own online business at larger scale. You have plenty of time. Good luck!

Try using paragraphs as a starter - it will make a lot easier to read your posts

If you have any writing/design/programming skills to offer, then you could always do some freelancing on sites like Upwork or Fiverr.

Otherwise, with no cash available, your only option would be blogging in micro niches, targeting low-competition markets and promoting products as an affiliate, while offering valuable content to your readers.

Do some research on blogging to see how to get started - there are loads of guides/ebooks around.

I don't have much skills other than writing and i am still not even the best at that. I was thinking my best bet would be to start some blogs. My problem is I want to start with 2-3 blogs but I am not use what niches I should be going into. I also am not sure what I should be posting about, I would love to read an Ebook about it if anyone has a free one.

Take him up on the 2% offer and forget any investment money from him.

You don't have any experience so any investment money from another person is a bad gamble. A business plan doesn't put money in your pocket. It's fine to plan and research but plans change over time especially considering you have no idea what you're getting into.

Build a small site for the log home niche and figure out where your target traffic is hanging out. Example, log home forums, log home expo, etc...

You could even start out with zero out of pocket money If you target social traffic, example, your grandpa most likely has a lot of photos of log homes he has sold or built so post those to Instagram and figure out the best hashtags to label your images that will draw in traffic.

My advice is to stop looking for hand holding.

You need to be able to research on your own. It's fine to ask questions on forums but you need to be able to go out on your own and find a problem that needs solved or even a better answer to a problem that already has an answer.

Traffic is the single most important factor, without it, you have nothing. Even If you have the best product/service in the world it's nothing without relevant traffic.

The easiest route for traffic is, create your own product that compliments a well known product and piggyback off their traffic. Example, Photoshop (any popular product) is obviously very successful and has a huge amount of traffic/followers, so, create/sell your own product that makes something about Photoshop easier like Action Scripts or bundles of PSD files.

You have traffic that is proven buyers (Photoshop). You have a relevant product those buyers already use (Action Scripts, PSD files, etc...).

Again, traffic is the key, master that and you'll do fine. Everything else (ex: websites, checkouts, etc...) are minor details that can be tweaked over time.

    Hi,

Congrats and welcome to the world of Internet Marketing(IM).

IM success is a combination of various factors. Here're the things
    I learned after 8 years

    1) Be optimistic
    2) Learn and take consistent action
    3) Choose a business model suitable to you
    4) Outsource early (Never try to do everything yourself)

    The most important thing is

Your job is to "GIVE VALUE TO YOUR TARGET MARKET"

    hope it helps.

Okay, I understand that traffic is key, but where and how are the best ways to get traffic to my site? How do I find the best niches for my sites? Should I set up a Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter before I make a website? The investment was for way down the line once I had gotten a few years of experience.

Learn by getting traffic to your Grandpa's business.

Build out his website and social media.

Set up quote forms so people can get a log home quote.

Practise building his brand and sales for a while.

Ask him who his ideal customers are and start to promote to them.

He obviously has a proven product and if you can promote his product online then you can progress from there.

      Best regards,

      Ozi

Depending on what skills you already have, you might want to try www.freelancer.com If you have some decent skills you might be able to make some consistent money there.

You can also look at selling things you no longer need. When i was in the bad situation I started selling things on amazon and ebay and it helped carry me through the bad times.

You can also do affiliate marketing without having a domain simply by creating youtube videos.

You're asking too many generic questions at once.

Start with one blog in one niche and see what you can do it with it. Focus in your situation is very important, so don't splatter all over the place trying to do 20 different things at once.

Choose one method and stick with it for now.

Thanks, I know I will have to be focused on one form of marketing, I just am not familiar with everything out there so I was just asking. I plan to start with selling High-End log and Timber houses, I will get paid commission and I will get paid to run and maintain the site. How should I go about this?
