Carpetbombing on Twitter
I was amazed to see someone whom I was happily following literally carpetbomb Twitter this evening with updates from someone's webinar.
Twitter is a great marketing opportunity, no question. But updates every 40 seconds or so for over an hour from a certain webinar that one may have chosen NOT to attend is a bit excessive. In fact, I was left wondering if this person had been hired as a secretary for the marketer conducting the webinar and was held to a specific quota of tweets per minute.
Yeah, I unfollowed this marketer. I was disappointed.
I look for uniqueness, community and connection on Twitter, but that's just me.
Marketing has its place for sure. I enjoy marketing my own products and services as well as my clients' on several Twitter channels, not to mention hearing about great products and services from vendors whom I value and whom add value.
All that said, if you come across as nothing more than a secretary with a tweet quota such that you have to carpetbomb your Twitter channel during someone's webinar, expect to be unfollowed. No offense, OK?
