Today's Internet Marketing Gurus

Hey guys

It's fair to say that a lot has changed in internet marketing in the past 10 years - so I'm trying to figure out if the gurus from yesterday (who most of us are probably already familiar with) are still going strong ... or if there's a new generation out there overtaking the legacy veterans?

I genuine don't have a clue but would be keen to see how far the IM frontier has shifted. So If you guys had to list your top 5 Internet Marketing Gurus of today, who would they be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated of course.

Nick

Seriously, what is the purpose of this post. Everyone will give different answers. I, personally, do not subscribe to hero worship so could not give an answer. And, if I did, it would help no one

I am the only guru that I follow as I am the only person that tries to actually give me good advice and I am actually smart enough to follow it.

If your success is dependent on following someone else's path, you don't possess what it takes to be a true success, in life - or business.

    Follow your own path.

Wouldn't that mean you were going backwards? I think that should be create your own path.

No. That depends on how far you went in school. Most of what I write can be absorbed by anyone with a 5th grade reading comprehension level. :-)

You've got a point, but there's no harm in getting some advice from people who have been in the industry for many years to have a better understanding of how the money is made online. I wouldn't necessarily call them "gurus", but just more experienced marketers.

It's like when you learn to play football, you don't just kick the ball against the wall, but start hanging out with guys who are better than you, so you can learn, get tips, etc.

Agreed, but depending on someone, labeled a 'guru' to hang your future on, is a fool's game.

        Life ain't football.

Most real "gurus" are unwilling to share their "secret sauce" because they're too busy making money and don't want new competition. Many of the real "gurus" wouldn't be very good at branding themselves as "gurus" which is why con artists have taken over their positions.

I have these 8 but there are more. If you're interested in old-fashioned marketing, which I think you should, these are the top gurus: Ian Ogilvy, Gary Halbert, Joe Sugarman, Eugene Schwartz, Steve Jobs, Thomas Watson, Harlan Kilstein...
