I recently teamed up with a professional writer and looked into flipping sites. So this very afternoon we decided to put something together.
I fully recognise our lack of expertise in this department, and wonder if one of you guys could review the site and point us in the right direction.
the site is www.martialarts-clothing.com
We are thinking of holding onto the site and monetising it.
What would you do you think is the best way of doing this?

I never saw your reply, because for some reason the thread was pulled. I honestly have no idea why. It is just an honest question.
We will probably add some adsense and hope to give better value to the site.
I have been marketing now with some success for awhile, but site flipping is new to me.

Yes, I think a new mod is having fun deleting random threads. Some of my legit threads got removed, no idea why.

I got mine also removed some days ago and without any reason. The new mod better be careful...whoever he is!

If you want to flip the site, you're going to need to spiff it up quite a bit.

Or get it earning money on autopilot and hold it for 6 months or more.

Otherwise, you will not be able to get much for it.

Go on over to Flippa and check out the quality of the sites that are selling over there. You will see they have premium themes, loaded up with videos and affiliate products. Some have autoposting etc....

Then ask yourself how yours compares and you will have your answer.

This is a really good answer, and I agree.

Spiff it up a bit. Compelling and uniquely designed sites can sell pretty well, even if there isn't a ton of content or a lot of money being made on it. All some people have to see is potential and they'll buy...but most people want concrete numbers/stats.

I would add images, video and a lot more pages, I think max you'll get
for that would be $30.00 unless you know how to write a very
convincing sales pitch as to why someone should buy it.

Hold it and get it making money, then flip it off.

Very plain, generic theme. Really needs a lot more pizzazz and more content if you want to flip it. Like Lee said, the only way it would sell is if it had revenue or a huge amount of traffic. To flip these sites, they need to stand apart from the crowd.

    Thanks guys

I think we were pretty much thinking along those lines. More content to be added over a few weeks and adsense or clickbank to be added. Maybe a sales page for a product as well.
I was kind of happy with the theme. It is a flexx theme and they are popular.
Pretty sure we take the above advice and hold onto it for awhile.
Once again many thanks for the above advice.

Did you intend all your internal links to be nofollow? If it is that you are just doing that whilst you are working on it then great - but it could be that you have forgotten to 'allow' Google access by changing the privacy settings within wordpress (which right now default to not allowing Google access if you install via fantastico, but I am told that will change in the next upgrade).

Are you trying to flip it as a blog or a static site? If a blog fine but if a static site I am wary of including dates on articles - but that's just a personal choice to do with freshness.

Good luck with it all btw!

You could flip that for $25-50 on DP, not much more. You can do ten of those a day and make good money doing it though.

Good point there John. I think this site is more suited to being static. I must suss out how to remove the date.
Bozz723, I think if we stick adsense on it and add some more articles, then two or three months down the line it should be worth a little more.
Its live and learn for us. As Iv'e said before its not how we normally make our money. Thanks to everyone who has made a comment, I really love this forum.

    Yep,

That site needs a lot of work, I wouldn't put to much effort into it unless I did a lot of due diligence and knew that it would pay off. Seems like it should be turned into an ecommerce site with the name given. So my question would be if there was enough money in getting "ninja clothing" at wholesale to market it on the site. If the site wasn't about clothing, then the ClickBank idea would be better suited. When people go to a martial arts clothing site they are going to be expecting stuff to buy, not a bunch of eBook sales pitches. I'm no naysayer though, so it still might all work, and the AdSense idea might pay off as well. Good luck!

Yes I kind of agree on the clickbank thing. I think we will put some adsense on there and see if we can make a little cash. It might make be worth a little more then.
Also have reseller hosting so might be a little residue there too.
Will build one a day and see how it goes. Hey its an experiment, we won't lose any money really.
