I was going to tell you to move on and try something else until you said you already have a team of writers.

If you already have a team that can pump out the content, you can give it a shot. Wouldn't hurt to try it out for a month and see where you stand at the end of it. All it will take is one viral article to take off and you could generate enough of a spark for your site to catch on.

There is nothing wrong to start now. Add content & use fb to promote your website. It will grow gradually. I would say Yes.

If you have a good team of writers then it's fine to start. You can promote it by the use of social media networks such Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc... Focus on the hot and trending happenings to promote it better.

This will be tough, but is definitely possible.

It helps that you already have a team of writers - meaning YOU can spend more time marketing/advertising and growing traffic.

If growth is slow you could always make a more specific viral content website (political, music, gaming, etc).

I say go for it! With a team of writers, if you can constantly post 4-5+ articles a day which are original and unique, you can do very good. It will take some time before you get any results, so be prepared for that, but if you keep going at it it could be a success!

    I say no.

If you have a team of writers.. Focus on writing unique high quality content and build a site to be Google news approved. These sites get tens of thousands of visitors just from Google.

Then focus on your advertising once you develop the traffic.

I'm doing this and just got started and it can be very lucrative if your using native ads. There are a few courses that teach how to cash in with these types of sites such as Twitter Traffic Siphon and ArbiCash.

There's always space on the market for better players.

If you can do it better than Buzzfeed or Cracked, then why not? Ask yourself, what is there that existing viral content sites are not doing? Can you fill in a need with your site, can you provide something more that others don't?

If yes, then the world is your oyster.

    Just a couple of thoughts . . .

    1. There is no such thing as a "viral niche." Individual articles can go "viral" if shared by enough people. Generally, the articles have to be very valuable, very funny, very newsworthy, or they have to strike at the emotions of readers. So you must decide what topics you want to focus on . . . like travel, food, sports, daily news, celebrities, etc. Look at Buzzfeed - they have defined their topics.

    2. You don't get to determine what content is viral and what is not. That's the job of the readers in reaction to what's presented to them. So even though you want to build a "viral" site . . . that's not your determination at all.

    3. This sites live off advertising. The businesses and marketers that do advertising will be the ones that pay your salary. And the only way they will advertise with you is if you attract a lot of site traffic. So how good are you at driving traffic? It will make or break you.

    4. Most of the sites like Buzzfeed aggregate content rather than create it. There's a big difference. You should know and understand this if you want to be successful. It's fine that you have assembled a bunch of writers but that's really not what you need primarily. You need great researchers that have a knack for finding great and worthwhile content wherever it is posted on the Internet.

I wouldn't try to talk you out of following your dreams . . . just understand that the task ahead will be challenging and you need to go into it with your eyes wide open and your bank account available (to get paid traffic).

That's a big challenge and like most of the big sites you need big money so sustain the losses you will make up front until google or someone buys you out!
