how do I deal with thank you pages?

Hi,

I'm putting a Wordpress site together for selling stuff, and I need to know how to deal with the thank you page. I am referring here to the page that takes the customer away from paypal after they've made a purchase, and direct them to my site where they are asked to enter some details about their order into a form that I've placed on that page.

I created a basic page in WP for this purpose specifically, and while I didn't include it in the navigation menu, and in the sitemap (I don't even have a sitemap actually), I am afraid that with how easily google crawls and indexes stuff this page could easily be found by others, and used to exploit my site.

I'm not sure how they can hack me through this page since only contains a simple form, but... I would feel better if nobody could access this page, except through paypal after a purchase has been made.

Also, I need to mention that I'm not going to use any ecommerce plugins (these plugins usually take care of these pages themselves). I just want to simply render this page inaccessible to anyone and everyone, except for when they make a purchase (as I explained above).

So, may I get an honest recommendation on what to do with this page? Encrypt it (if yes, how), make it private, password-protected?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

John

Seems like a very strange set up to have customers enter info after they purchase. Most people use that page to upsell or cross sell while their lead is read hot.

Anyways, here's how Google says to do it:

Yeah, I knew about noindex, but I'm not sure this prevents all SEs from indexing the page, or just Google. So, any tips for other SEs? Well, at least the big ones (Bing, Yahoo, etc.)

Also, isn't it possible for good hackers/programmers to find the URL by looking at the source code??

The noindex entry has nothing to do with Google. It applies to all search engines.

If people want to steal your product they will. You can't beat piracy.

This might be true for digital products, but I don't see how someone can pirate a service that I'm offering, say article writing for example. I don't think that's possible
