Capturing the leads: simple squeeze page vs. full content website

Hi guys,

I read this forum every day, it's great source of knowledge and once again I'm asking for advice.

My goal for the next few months is catching the leads in my niche. I have a website with a built-in user registration, and several sections with free content.
Every new user who want to get access to freebies should fill simple registration form. Everything is quite easy and fast, but I wonder if not replace this page with simple squeeze page with centered call to action only, where the new user with one click can put his e-mail and click download button.

Such simple squeeze page will certainly encourage the users more, but I wonder also if I can keep them in the long run, if on the website there will be nothing beyond the call to action?

My question is whether it is better to continue to carry on the page with the content, where registration may take some effort, but the users have access to more content, or bet on a simple squeeze page and send the content via e-mail?

Thanks!
V.

Why don't you just continue with your present approach but also build a single page squeeze page . . .

. . . then send 1/2 your traffic to each and track which approach converts best?

In other words, test, track and optimize how you market. It holds true for squeeze pages, sales offer, headlines, site design, and almost every other IM task you face.

Split test. Do both! Id say your better off collecting a lead at first then your able to walk them through the process so to speak like you said through email.

Everthing above the fold on your landing page!

Yes, of course you need to keep 2 pages and let the traffic on them. Which nickname will show the best result from that and continue to work.

Split testing here is a great recommendation and a sensible approach. Intuitively, you're going to have a lower conversion rate on your email registration if you aren't offering any content up front. Think about it - why should I entire my email to get access to content if I don't know what I'm getting.

There are many dating websites that required you to fill out the registration before you can view any profiles, for example. The issue with this system is that the appeal of the profiles you find on the website is what gives you a reason to create an account. Put differently, the reason you create an account is because you found someone's profile that you deem interesting and you want to connect with that person.

If you're not offering anything of interest to your users, what incentive would they have to register for your website with an e-mail address? A squeeze page would have to be pretty compelling, but offering some useful content up front with the promise of more after an email submission is also a great strategy.

Don't get too attached to either method - try a split test and see which option works best when it comes to getting email registrations. I would also add that there's a difference in quality. For example, offering some content before you ask for the email means the people that sign up for more are looking for more of the same - they were engaged by the content you provided and saw the value in it. If the person who submits their email hasn't seen content yet, they may see it later and actually not be interested in it.

Determine what works best for you and continue working from there to optimize your email capture and your results. Good luck!

Or you could have people so "distracted" by the amount of FREE Quality Content on your Site and become too busy to sign up. A simple Sq.Page is right in front of them with no distractions.

I understand what you are saying but it can go both ways
