The perfect team for the perfect site!

I'm a firm believer that if you want to build something substantial that the quickest way to get there is to have a team of experts. With enough time one person can do it all themselves however time is something at the moment I'm finding not a lot of.

I'm curious to see what peoples opinions are of what a great team of specialists would be in order to create a fantastic site. Yes I know the kind of site matters as to the team you want to build to make it but lets just say an an expandable affiliate site with as much growth potential and monitization as possible.

For example:

Team Leader - final decision maker, someone who has many successful sites under their belt.
Web Developer - the person who makes the site.
Marketing Guru - the person who consults on the marketing, handles social media etc.
Writer - the person who develops the structure for the blog posts and does the writing and or hires and manages the team of blog writers.
SEO expert - this person consults on the SEO from the get go from development and long after release continually tweaking and adding.

I'd love to get your opinion!

    Sysintel,

Great idea, it has the full convergence of human factors to provide a professional site. But if your website is about service or product, it seems to lose support section. It should add a person who has the ability to communicate and support for visitors. This my own opinion.

Your idea sounds great on paper. But, for the average internet marketer and beginner it probably would not be affordable, not to mention vetting your possible team. You are looking at thousands of dollars with no guarantees. Granted, if you have deep pockets then no big deal.

Most of what your team will do you can do yourself just by using google, youtube, and a little imagination.

You don't need a team when in the beginning. You can do it all yourself that you've listed, thus you can develop crucial skills and experience, which is essence to guiding a team later successfully. Don't tell you got no time, if you don't then you aren't qualified to make money at all. Remember, successful people normally make their first millions by themselves. You can hire freelancers here and there in the process, however, if you wish.

To bring this to reality will certainly put a dent in ones pocket.

Indeed! But if you all work together and you have an awesome project manager, then it is possible.

I want to apply for the position. I only need $750K for the first year.

It's not a lot, I know, I just really want to be part of "something substantial" so am willing to take an income cut.

You're putting together a team of five experts to build a web site? One person can easily do the job. How many multiple thousands of dollars will that cost you? And what will they come up with that you can't simply purchase or license for much less and have implemented immediately? You can buy access to the very best SaaS for much less than re-inventing the wheel and be done with it.

A more important issue right now is have you tested, tracked, and proven your business concept already? Do you have research to support your business model and marketing plans?

A web site is simply your platform for offering your service and products. It is just one small piece of the overall business pie. It doesn't need to be original or one-of-a-kind as long as it serves its purpose and gives utility to your customers.

Spend your money on verifying the concept, validating your marketing plan, branding your business assets, and stoking your startup push. Online businesses with top heavy admin components are often found to be unsupportable for any length of time.

Put your financial resources where they will make the most positive impact on your business and that is most likely not in building a web site.

IT DEPENDS on the nature of the site.

The first aim is to build a list around a particular topic: so you need a very good expert in traffic delivery, another one in email marketing.

BUT why dont you outsource the non-essential parts?

I know that "human relationship" may be good: but imho the best business has to be liquid and keep you as much free as possible. Dont make an elephant in the room.
