Default Resurrecting and monetizing my short story site

Hi all,

not been around for a very long time, so doubt if any/many remember me!

I got some great advice here back when I started my short story site (in sig). But it has sat near enough idle for a while, and I've recently decided to get off my lazy backside and make something of it.

Here's my conundrum; I have a budget of nothing, but want to gradually build a little income from the site. But to do this I need to get some more decent traffic to it as well.

So far I have added Adbrite to it, as I gave up trying to reactivate adsense (long story!). I've not had much luck as the ads aren't relevant at all, so I'll probably have another tryr with google's support people. I've added a few clickbank product links which I'll build on further down the line, plus I've created a page on Facebook which is linked to within the site, forum and any automated emails. Also, I've put an AddThis widget on every page, which seems to have been made use of quite well so far.

My first aim is to at least cover the hosting costs etc... moving on to getting a little money to throw in to advertising with any luck.

Any advice on next steps would be fantastic!

Apologies, I probably should have titled this thread better!

The site has over 1000 stories online at present, with roughly 500 authors. Sending out a "we're back" notice to all should boost the Facebook page fans as well as traffic and AddThis bookmarking etc.

Hi unnameable,

You can actually start by creating a group by calling it Creative Writing in Facebook and then build the group fast. You can check out the ebook I have written on how I generated 3000 targetted list in 2 weeks by visiting my site at Facebook Marketing Malaysia

I'll work on the Facebook page I've put together, and hopefully that will bring in some good traffic itself as well.

Any good alternatives to Adsense? I think I'll need something that is truly contextual...

Brief update:

Not much luck with Adbrite as mentioned above. Ads are all general, and sometimes not quite appropriate to the audience (even though family friendly is checked).

The facebook page is gradually gaining fans, and I've put out the first fan update.
I've also made a point of contacting other related websites with the aim of adding/swapping links etc.

Any advice on helping things gain momentum would be much appreciated.
