Creating a customer avatar for the first time? Heres my tips.
If youre new to the game, heres some ideas on how to create a customer avatar so you can play from home.
What is an avatar?
First things first, the avatar should have a name, a picture and have really specific characteristics. It should be a range of characteristics all wrapped up in a persona that helps you speak to your ideal customer.
You can create one that includes their pain points, fears, dreams, and anything complex you think is important for the tapestry of the persona.
You should be able to create an avatar that you can use to basically create targeted copy and messages to your idea customer.
What info should you include?
Heres a list of things to consider including that can help you to drive the right people to your website.
To get into the persona of your potential client you should try and find out some of the following:
- Quotes or phrases they may say
- Emotions - good and bad
- Technology they are familiar with
- Social and cultural background
- Psychographic traits (opinions, lifestyle and values)
- Age
- Advertisements they are attracted to
- Vocabulary
- What they spend their time doing
- What they earn
- Marital status
- General background
- Anything right down to their weight, health, eye colour
You can get into heaps of detail with the avatar and write background drivers, feelings and reasons why they are looking for your product or service.
There are some great posts online for developing your ideal client avatar that you might want to check out if this is a new process for you.
