The more you EARN the more you BURN

What's my client's client to me, I mean? Well, let's say it's a great source of joy and happiness. You know how it goes, don't you? If my client gets a new job, this also means that I can expect more work for me. I'm talking about a simple outsourcing chain. This is a more acceptable thing. We are all involved in this production process. For example, we are all working on this eBook. The end client is somewhere I don't where. We are handling the content part. Some other guys are taking care of the design. And so on and on. Maybe there are some folks in charge of coordination and payment stuff. It's a crazy and crowded world, that's for sure.

So, I was on Skype discussing my client's situation with his client. More work headed our way. That's great. Yet for some reason my client wasn't particularly thrilled. This was a strange to hear, at least to say. Right? So, I was curious to hear what's happening in the background. Then my client said this line I'm going to remember for quite some time:

The more you earn - the more you burn!

What's that supposed to mean? Seriously? I said that I'm in no mood for some boring and outdated cliche stuff like you burn to earn, blah blah. You know what I mean. Yet, there was a surprise waiting for me. The client I'm talking about said something like, you will wait and see for yourself. The more you earn, the more troubles and things you will have to take care of. Some more or less trivial problems like taxes and bank accounts, but then it will become even more complicated. More money. More choices in life.

I told you that I was in no mood for some BS zen stuff you get every day. So, my question was about the alternatives. I should be happy with what I have right now and I don't have much. Let's all be like free from desire and free from pain. I have seen those movies and l don't like them. Can I burn a little bit so I can see whether or not I like it myself? Isn't it great just for a moment to be a situation to control how much you can earn in your life? To say this is enough for me in terms of success? Otherwise, this endless struggle isn't a funny thing to repeat every single day.

My client was obviously disappointed. Like I'm missing the point. At one point you are going to burn completely. I laughed. I said that there's a possibility that I'm one of those fantastic four guys, what was his name? The flame guy. Finally, my client reminded himself that he was still my client and that he was the one to end our conversation. We started with some good news and talked about new work. Now, we ended up with some bad feelings. It's not like we're done, but was this really necessary? I was just being honest. Probably, that was his case too. He was just being honest too, and I couldn't quite figure out what he was trying to say to me. I have been warned, but still, I would like to get burned the same way he was complaining about. What's your situation? Do you burn to earn? Are you afraid that you are going to burn the more you earn?
