Do the how I can make you a millionaire intro videos on affiliate marketer sites work?

I was doing some research and came across some IM marketing guru sites where the home page kicked off with a video of them outlining how lucrative their business is and showing their Ferraris, palatial homes, toys and all the dough they are rolling in.

I wondered how effective these videos are and whether people actually are attracted to videos like this? They seem a little in your face to me, but people must respond to them if they are up there.

I can see that they would appeal to the masses to a degree but is this the best way to engage and sign up new affiliates for a marketing program?

On the whole, do you think videos are more effective on a home page than content and imagery, or do you think the visitor can explore in their own way without the video pop up?

I am more of a facts person and I like to see the info in an infographic or written down, and the showiness of some of these gurus aren't really my cup of tea but I am interested if this is a technique that really is working for people.

    Hi:

Video Sales Letters (VSLs) have been proven to engage longer and convert better than written sales copy. Some of the claims of making millions are true, but it won't happen over night and usually requires more effort than is originally explained.

It's possible, but it takes consistent work and a good product.

It all depends on what kind of traffic that you funnel into the thing.

I use a powerful VSL from a GURU and it works magnificently well with my traffic...biz opp seekers.

      Thanks Rory.

It's all about targeting I guess, the VSL's are really interesting and I do get that putting a face to the guru is important and showing your wares so to speak would be a great hook.

I am coming across more and more of these now online and I was curious what the results are. Good to know it's a valuable tool and working for you.

Most people are lazy and they don't like reading, that's the reason why videos convert better than written sales pages - watching a video is more entertaining and fun, compared to reading, which a lot of people consider as boring.

As for "in your face" videos, it shows people what's possible if they buy whatever product is being promoted...Proof of earnings, if you like.

There are some problems with all these courses and video sales letter: often they are just about "a method to make money". You almost never hear someone talk about a very specific topic and indications what he will teach you. Usually its just about "I will show you how to make money, you never saw this before, its an amazing method". Personally, my alarm bells would ring immediately if I hear something like this. If I pay for a course I want to learn a new skill or increase my knowledge in a field, not gamble with my money for a fishy "method".

Back to topic: in my opinion it depends. For cheap and basic kind of products a regular sales letter is enough (I also prefer short and modern ones instead of the sketchy 100 pages letters with 20 different fonts and colors), while for more expensive products you should mix videos and texts.
