Best advice for a fresh newb?

I've already dropped too much on scams. I narrowly avoided a WA membership. At this point I'm so frustrated I'm ready to give up.

But, I've been on the net since the BBS days, and know there is money to be had. I have run a successful sandwich shop before family issues forced me to cease operations. I understand the need to put in work.

What I don't understand is where to start in internet marketing. I get the gist, I am fully ready and capable to learn the mechanics. I won't drop 47.99 on a get rich quick post. I won't join a 'free' opportunity just to be asked for hundreds a day later.

So my question to all of you, is if I have a minimal starting investment, and around 100 a month to throw at it until I start profiting, where do I start? Which program is the best for me?

I'm willing to even start off as a poster or similar. I'm laid off with tons of time on my hands, help me put that time to good use, and eventually good profits.

Thank you in advance for any and all comments.

Where to start? The truth is that you have already started. The fact that you have did enough research to find this forum is your start.

You next mission is to learn the basics.

I would suggest that you start with email marketing. In my opinion...you should research on how to build an internet marketing biz by promoting affiliate products through an email list that you create by getting people to sign up in a niche or sub-niche.

If you are totally new...then you will need to learn everything thee is about choosing a niche, setting up a list, using an autoresponder, creating a squeeze page, where to advertise your squeeze page, and how to market to your list.

Don't be in a rush. Just learn how to do this one thing right, then you can expand to other areas of internet marketing.

Thank you. I get the niche, but as far as autoresponders and the such, I know what they are, I do not know how to incorporate them.

I will research email marketing and the know-how. I appreciate the reply immensely.

By WA, you mean Wealthy Affiliate? To be honest, compared to all the crap available online, WA is one of those few places, where your money is well-spent.

If you are a complete newb and have no idea what to do, then you should try WA, because I doubt you'll learn much by simply browsing the forum - there's too much info here and it's all over the place, whereas WA is organized info and explained in a manner understandable to beginners.

I do mean Wealthy Affiliate. Everything I see about this program says I'm better off researching things on my own and save the 47 a month.

I don't think there's a right place to start in Internet marketing that can apply to everyone ...

    >> Well, except to re-learn business and investing fundamentals. Another's to study how recent Web technologies and platforms can improve the efficacy of leveraging your resources. All this for improving the sustainability of your business back end and front end processes to consistently hit your target profits, growth and expansion plans ...

If you're looking for a step by step program that can teach you how to build and run and grow a sustainable business or any type of investment, then I recommend you stop looking ...

    >> Sustainable businesses or other types of investments are built, ran and grown through creative and iterative processes; and

    >> I don't think successful businesspeople and investors follow business and investment blueprints ...

Instead, they create and tweak new processes and systems from what's currently out there ...

    >> I'm sure you know that Internet marketing is just the process of cost-effectively advertising and promoting and selling stuff on the Web ...

    >> This just provides you with a means to better leverage your resources to learn more about your ideal prospects, potentially reach more of them, convert them to subscribers and customers, learn more about the relevant things they want, to get repeat business from them, convert them into viral marketers, improve the sustainability of your business and to scale whatever you're doing ...

Best advice for a newb? Do not procrastinate like I initially did, as you'll end up wasting time and money. Also, set realistic goals as far as how many new products you're going to launch, etc. Set a to do list and take action on your plan.

    Jason,

Find a need or desire expressed by an audience of like-minded buyers. It's a better place to begin than choosing a product to sell. The need or desire (called "demand") comes first and could simply be a gap in a particular niche that no one is addressing. Or it could be that all the solutions for a particular problem leave customers wanting a better product.

By addressing the audience first, you know you won't be wasting time finding or creating something that nobody is going to buy. And you can do your demand research without spending your budget.

You took the initiative. So here's your start. Budget is always an issue for a new starter and it requires a lot of thinking before you pour your money in some idea. Many people look at internet marketing business to start something of their own and be their own boos which is good. Thinking outside of the box and entrepreneurship are the essence of a creative market out there.

Looks like you have a pretty sound experience in running a sandwich restaurant? Why don't you start up something similar like for example providing baked goods. I have a friend who started up an online birthday cake design business and expanded the business just through pure social media and email marketing. People book appointments from his site and then he delivers them the desired product on time. Think of something in which you're good at and possess real passion . If it's something food related then I can assure you that $100 a month is not a bad investment.

    Cheers

Alright, I'm going to give you the exact answers I wish I had gotten when I was starting out 8 years ago, that could've stopped me from having 4 years (3 1/2, but I'm rounding up cause it felt like 40) of abysmal failure, and turned it into success. I've sold 100K in books world wide on Amazon, I've coached over 2 dozen mid level execs and managers on confidence and leadership for 2,500 dollars a 3 month program, I've had courses do well on Udemy. And currently, I'm helping local businesses (brick and mortar companies) grow their business through social media and facebook ads and building a business on this platform which I'm hoping to really settle into.

There's my history, take my advice or leave it, it's up to you. Here I go.

Find something worth coaching or consulting in. I ran from this cause everything 8 Years ago was about creating products and doing passive income. The problem is that you don't have results, testimonials, and success. And you need money now, but they're ideas are either to have people read it and give you testimonials, or give it away and do a test group. This is so stupid.

You don't need testimonials if you're going to give people the information and walk them through it. You'll get less conversions, don't get me wrong. The amount of clients I get through my marketing with results, testimonials and the such, are sun and moon difference with no testimonials.

But, how to launch a successful consulting, service, or coaching business is pretty simply. What can you coach, consult, or do for someone that they can't or wouldn't want to do for or by themselves.

Go on Facebook find groups that would have your customers in them. Go to the groups, explain your experience, why you're there (Always stating just to give them helpful information). Then give people helpful information, never go more than a day without posting something that can help them do what you can do and help them achieve some result.

Title them: Titles that work most effectively are things that are personal, or vague/specific/painful. So, I did something on facebook and posted here, My 5K Mistake on my challenges and errors and failure in launching my weight loss product 4 years ago. It went big in my circles, over 1K likes, six people posted it in their marketing blogs, and so forth. Then another one is How To Get Clients In The Door (it's vague, it's specific, and it's a pain point for people). Boom, more shares, more likes, and huge engagement. You want to get as much engagement as possible.

Then after three or four post, you start mentioning how Clients You've had, or People You Work With do this and that, or the major frustration of helping people do whatever it is you're trying to help them do, and then share how they break through it. This is your call to action for people.

It's steeped in advice, and it's not soliciting but curiosity gets them.

Now that's organic if you don't have any money.

If you can afford a couple hundred for advertising and some money to do a Webinar on Gotomeeting, then take this free information you've given away, collect it into slides, explain yourself, your results, and why people should listen to you. Say you're not making this a rah rah thing, and that there's nothing to buy at the end, this is just advice for you to use. Walk them through your free information. Then offer them a free strategy session have them go to a Wufoo page and answer some questions that can qualify them, then take them to a scheduler (use Calendly or Scheduleone--these are the two I've used and both are great), then get on the phone and sell them your service, your coaching, your consulting... Monthly, single purchase, that's all up to you and what the service is you're giving them.

This way you get success stories, you build a niche, you build a list, you need an incredibly low conversion rate cause the sales are 1,500 Hundred to 2,500 hundred on average (once you get testimonials and success you can get 5,000 to 10,000 depending on the niche). As you build success for people and get testimonials, you'll be building material that's legitimately worth 2,500 to 5,000 dollars to sell for $95 dollars to $295 down the road and have a hungry market of people you will have continued to follow up with through email, and make a big launch and make a lot of money.

Or you'll be happy consulting. That's up to you.

But yeah, the moment I focused on high ticket coaching and consulting, my business changed. I wasn't always good at facebook ads, so I was getting 5 dollar leads and a .5% conversion on the leads I got. So for every 1000 Dollars I spent I got a client, that was with follow up. (Right now, it's 700 dollars, but the market's smaller and with follow up that amount is 420 a conversion, and they're worth 1,600 dollars monthly). They paid 250 per session with a 10 Session requirement, so 2,500 dollars. I mean, I could've had 10 dollar leads and still been in profit. But I was giving away great information and my site looked ok.

You can start this today, right now in fact, start finding groups, start posting about something you know how to do that would benefit others and that would have value to someone else.

You don't need a website (haven't had one since 2012--I have funnels, I have optin pages, I have webinar pages, but I haven't built a distinct website... never enough clients. I'm only now considering doing it now because I want to grow my business huge), you don't need an email list, you don't need previous results or testimonials. This isn't a get rich scheme, it requires lots of work, lots of effort, and a great deal of time and a willingness to be uncomfortable. But the rewards of helping people and making money and doing something that comes naturally or easy to you can be hugely rewarding.

Hope this has been of help to you.

Feel free to message me if you want more information.

I'd say "Learn the basics", study the web from the student point of view. Obviously the basic-basic, is "show an offer to people who are interested in that subject". That's all the Google does. They track your web activity to show you corresponding ads. If you can collect e-mail addresses of visitors BEFORE they see your offer even better, you'll build a list that you can promote to over and over. You don't have to create a product either. Just get good at selling other people's to begin (or end ) with (like Michael Cheney) If you can get the basic principles clear, you can build an empire on those.

My advice to you is before you buy any product is to utilize all the free resources on this forum in the free items section. You can also use the search option to get info on anything in particular you want to know about. This is to get a grasp of what Internet marketing is all about first before you jump head-on into buying any of those products out there. Also i suggest you sign up with an Internet Marketing guru to get 1 on 1 coaching. You can google that to get the top Internet marketers and then you can subscribe to there blogs.

Hey Jason you have something really special here and that is time! You need to use that wisely and do these things:

    • Don't spend money at first all the free information you will ever need is on youtube, google and this forum. But are you going to work 10 or even 14 hrs a day at first? If yes then you will succeed!
    • Be a good listener and learn the skill of adaption! Things change and you need to be able to roll with the punches so to speak. Listening is good, ignorance is not. Far to many people online don't know the difference.
    • Master one thing at a time! yes I know you want to build ten sites in ten different niches BUT THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE.
    • And above all be consistent, be positive and don't reinvent the wheel. just modifiy the wheel!
    Good luck buddy!!

You already have the answers. Buyer traffic.

You never sold a single sandwich without traffic. Making a sandwich was the easy part, the same applies online regardless what you're selling. Focus on traffic sources, that's where the money comes from (traffic).

    Stop buying IM junk.

Once you decide on a target audience, start collecting email addresses. It's one thing many seasoned pro's wish they started doing sooner. Give away a ton of free value to your subscribers until you solidify your profit approach. Best of luck!

I'm not going to write a novel of advice.

I'll be simple and to the point. Get off the internet.

IM is useless and so are all those programs and techniques and "Scams".
You're looking in the wrong place.

People get this confused far too much, those are tools when you come to the internet WITH an idea. Don't look on the internet for ideas, perhaps inspiration but this is a trap.

You'll never make money online stuck in this loop. Meditate, think of some service, or product, or some place you can provide your fellow humans value and bring that to the internet and use the programs, techniques and systems to promote your idea and you'll quickly see what the scams are, and yes sure some people make money with those ideas but do you want to bounce from scam to scam once one fails? or some system becomes obsolete.

If you provide true value to your fellow humans, even if it is just your thoughts and opinions then you'll know how to use *some of the products you'll find here.

You probably perhaps wanted to start doing trending news items, just make sure your content are updated daily say 3 articles a day and i know it sounds a bit difficult though, but, you can actually get someone do 2 articles for as low as $2.50. The caveat is that, you need to manually do the other stuff, preferably basic seo and social media. Until you build enough followers and your making enough to fully automate everything. Thats my 2 cents. Hope you succeed.
