Under the radar way to make cash with ebay/amazon

The other thread on fast cash got me thinking, so I thought I'd add some value/share something I saw on NPR the other day, if you listen to what they're saying, they're basically giving away a method to making money with ebay/amazon.

There is one profiled couple making a million a year with this.

Episode 724: Cat Scam : Planet Money : NPR

Basically the method as it breaks down is this -

1) Research top selling items on amazon, choose a product

2) Compare price of product between amazon and ebay

3) Find the price difference, if it is profitable, choose it

4) Get amazon prime (for free shipping!)

5) Literally just copy and paste description/pics from Amazon onto Ebay

6) When someone orders on Ebay, simply order the same product on Amazon and profit from the difference. Just like drop-shipping.

Believe it or not this actually works because people are too lazy to compare between different sites.

I could see this making $50-100 fairly easily and scaled up even more with software.

Anyone with experience in arbitrage?

If it works for you try it. But honestly I wouldnt feel like it would be very efficient.

There have been members here doing this in both directions for many years. There have been training WSO's on the topic and also software created. This is an old topic.

This all might be true, but you never hear people talking about it. Furthermore, the fact this was actually profiled on a mainstream news site with examples of people seriously banking off of it lends more credibility to it as a viable method.

This thread is how to best go about this. People with experience in this kind of arbitrage could definitely lend some insights on this topic.

This practice is in complete contravention to the clearly published Amazon Prime Terms.

    Here is the relevant section:

    Other Limitations
    • We reserve the right to accept or refuse membership in our discretion.
    • We may send you email and other communications related to Prime and your Prime membership (regardless of any settings or preferences related to your Amazon account).
    • You may not transfer or assign your Prime membership or any Prime benefits, including promotion codes for Prime memberships or benefits, except as allowed in these terms.
    • Prime members are not permitted to purchase products for the purpose of resale, rental, or to ship to their customers or potential customers using Prime benefits.
    • From time to time, Amazon may choose in its sole discretion to add or remove Prime membership benefits. section of those terms:

Do you really think they are stupid?

Regardless of whether of not you think Amazon is stupid or not, people are already doing it. How could they possibly enforce this rule? It's technically not re-selling, it's simply ordering for another person and pocketing the difference lol.

This is about making money not debating Amazon's TOS.

You should have more respect for others opinions as this is a private/public forum and this is not your thread
If you want to game Amazon you also have know the TOS you are breaking

The reason no one is discussing is that it may not be worth It

Totally understandable. This method might not be for everyone. However there is nothing illegal or even immoral about it, it's simply being a middle man. Yes, technically it could be going against their tos, but lets recognize three facts:

          1) People are already doing this
          2) They are making good money at it
          3) Amazon cannot possibly enforce their rule

I'm just saying those 3 things could make this attractive to some folks. Indeed it already has. Regardless of what people think about the tos violation there is clearly money to be made, for some to the tune of millions of dollars.

I'm just here to point those things out and open up a discussion. I personally have'nt tried it yet, so don't shoot the messenger lol.

They enforce this rule by terminating the accounts of people they catch violating the terms of Amazon Prime.

They do keep track of who you're shipping habits. Do this long enough and it WILL raise red flags.

Go to the ebay seller forum and search for amazon prime drop shipping and see how many people have been shut down by Amazon.

If you play on Amazon's playground, you have to play by their rules.

I could see that happening. But the fact remains there are somehow people making millions with the method. Maybe they've come up with a workaround I don't know. It's an interesting way to make money in any case.

Listen to the podcast. It's mentioned in the first 10 minutes. A couple started this while stationed in Iraq and turned it into a million dollar+ a year business.

It seems like this is one of the most reliable ways to make money. This has been around for a while. There have been several courses that teach this method. E-commerce is one of those evergreen industries that will always be profitable as long as you have a proven method that works. Dropshipping definitely has its advantages because it really doesn't require much to get started. Overall I think it's a great way to make a nice income as long as you know what you're doing.

That's a great way to lose your prime account and possibly get your account banned. This violates Prime's TOS. Shipping items to too many different addresses using prime will raise a red flag and your account will be scrutinized. Amazon didn't get to be as big as they did by letting people take advantage of them.

The funny part is that those on here who do try this will be the same ones asking how to get their Amazon accounts back after they get terminated.

i no longer do ebay, but when I was, I used the pulse option and just sold stuff that people were craving for.

As a seller on there, you must realise that EBAY is about SUPPLY and DEMAND the big sellers, are always looking for hot stuff to sell, and get in fast before eveyone else.

Of course a MUST, that no one will tell you about. IS when someone buys, put their name and email on a list. IF they have money and buy, they will buy again. I was able to take in $8,000 in 2 months, when i started online mainly due to being and building a good list of buyers, and stay in communication with them. :-)

A list of prospects are good, but a LIST OF BUYERS, are like GOLD!!! man.
