What should I do with my career right now?

Hello guys, My name is Mike and I'm a college student in Queens, NY (finance major) who has been posting a bunch of content about self-help and entrepreneurship on social media specifically Instagram, YouTube, and my blog.

I am actually going to continue to grow my audience online with content but I've decided that I wanted to make some income now instead of school.

I am thinking of becoming a full-time copywriter or online business -and social media consultant for restaurants.

I'd like to drop out of college (already have an associates degree) because I feel that what I am learning has nothing to do with entrepreneurship and learning how to become financially free.

What do you think I should do?

Any life advice? Thank you so much in advance.

I'd try also re-purposing your content and publishing it on a new platform called Steemit. It's a new type of platform that pays content creators based on the amount of upvotes their content gets. I personally have earned some coin there.

Well, I don't know your reason for going to college in the first place. But I personally did not go to college because I want to graduate, get a job and earn money. I went to college because I wanted to experience another world, meet new people and challenge myself.

So if you are dropping out of college, weigh the pros and cons. And i don't think you remaining in college and building your audeince online while learning copywriting and building an online business is impossible. So give it a shot.

    So my own advice is...

    1. Keep building your audience, Get a personal website or blog setup and set a goal.
    2. Enroll for courses on copyrighting and find a particular online business module that best suits you and learn all you can about it.
    3. Don't quit college, but get more organised and manage your time properly (Some people are wishing to be in your shoes)
    4. Online marketing can be tricky so don't forget to "INSURE" Yourself for the rainy days.

Finally, no knowledge is wasted, whatever happens, know that you are the only one that can make the decisions that will affect your life positively or negatively, so don't be too quick to jump in and if you are Christian, Pray about the decision you are about to take... God will definitely direct you.

    You've got what it takes.

I know this would translate into huge efforts from your side...but, if I were you, I would do both of them

I'm with David, I would do both. If you're cruising through college and you have the ability and drive to be doing content and build your business ideas I would focus this effort on doing both or even doing college part time and do both.

A degree can be valuable if you want to fall back on it. While I must say I don't use my Bachelor's degree at all

Stick to it, speak with a few colleagues who might have been through the same thing and give yourself a few months to weigh up the pros and cons of the decision. Cover you bases as much as you can and save as much as you can so when you do branch out and do IM you will have some funds to pay the bills and survive for a few months.

Mike, Copywriting is an attractive and very noble profession. It may take a while before you see any money from that, before you do anything I would certainly build some liveable income from your online efforts.. When you have an income coming in, you can then afford to "follow your heart".. until then, follow your head!.

It's a personal thing for me, but my Degree is something that nobody can take away. And it will NOT in any way guarantee you Success but I can tell you one thing....it can get your 'foot in the door' much more effectively than if you didn't have one.

Of course it is entirely up to you and so many people succeed without it

Is your "content" on social media....making any money? Is your blog making any money? If not, what you have right now is a hobby and a hope. There is nothing to stop you from starting to EARN from your online efforts while attending college. Many entrepreneurs start that way.

An education is something no one can take from you - it's a fall back plan when things get rough (and they will). Knowledge of finance and business will only help you in running your own profitable business online or offline.

If you can't make a profit part time online - don't assume full time will be faster or easier.

Stay in college. If you're not enjoying it, look into accelerated degree programs and just get it over with. As others have said, no one can take it away and it's great to fall-back on. I'd much rather be caught in hard times with one than without one.

    Most business fail, after all.

I would encourage you to grow your business while in college. That's what I did AND I continued growing it while employed at a "job" after college. In fact, I'm still at that "job". I could leave if I felt like it, but I kind of enjoy it more often than not and I'm not going anywhere without at least 5 years of savings in the bank.
