Should I change my domain name from www.howtomakemoneyonlinesree.com to www.makemoneyonlinesree.com?

Hi Warriors,

Today, I purchased a domain,howtomakemoneyonlinesree.com. I changed my decision of buying makemoneyonlinesree.com instead as I noticed that the search volume of "how to make money online" was 10 times that of "make money online" as shown in google keyword planner. But, later, I found that they have the same range of search volume as shown in the same keyword planner.

So, do you think that I should make the change so that my domain name will be shorter? Again, my primary intention is to add a few squeeze pages which upon submission would be redirected to money making products in other websites. Later , I want to make this a blog with articles on how to make money online along with the squeeze pages. So, adding "how to" might help align with the theme of the blog later.

Please advise me whether I should make the change to shorten my domain name or not?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Kind Regards,
Sreejish

If you are looking to change your domain purely for seo purposes i would say that the domain name doesn't matter like it did in the past. Having said that having your keyword in the domain still acts as a relevancy signal. Personally i think your domain is pretty long so i would go for the shorter one but it won't make that much difference if you use the other one...

Both of those keywords are EXTREMELY competitive. Most people are weary making money online offers/blogs and having a 19 character domain name doesn't exactly make you seem more credible. Go for a name that people can actually remember.

Both names are awful in my opinion and your keyword is one of the most competitive ones there is. Having a PMD in this niche isn't going to help you unless you can brand it and turn it into an authority site.

You should pick a far less competitive niche and learn how to rank and market your website in that niche and then use your acquired knowledge to move onto tougher niches.

I always thought that it is a good idea to reflect the theme of the website in the domain name; so that those who see the url will have an idea about what to expect in the website. Do you think it is fine?

Go fro BRANDING in your domain name. The seo content of it is worth virtually nothing. Build a brand.

@jazbo Do you mean I may use a brand-word like google or should use the word "branding" in my domain name? Of course not the second - right??

Actually, I wanted to convey the theme of my website through the domain name. And it will help me when I will use google adwords as the keywords I will be targeting for will match with the url often - as google adwords experts suggest?

personally I think they are both terrible. Names like that always impress me as being spammy and scammy. And, will probably be a site just loaded with popups and ads. This is my opinion.

By adding the "Sree" at the end it tells me you are branding yourself so why not just get "yourname.com" and go with that.

Remember it is the content that will be the most beneficial to SEO and not the domain.

@agmccall thanks - I will not use both names. I added a part of my name at the end because I wanted to convey the theme of the website in my domain and as I will not get such domain names, I just added part of my name as a compromise - a tactic I read somewhere.

I agree that content is much more important than the domain name. But, I thought conveying the theme of the website through domain name is good or at least to give an indication about the same.

Both are long and retarded domains. If you think that by getting an EMD, you will all of a sudden get a massive SEO boost, then forget about it - those days are gone.

Yes, having the keyword in the domain is good, but having long keywords in the domains looks stupid.

How about sreecash.com? Checked with GoDaddy and it's actually available...

@zdebx thanks. I will not use both names. I will try moneyalex.com or similar as you kindly suggested.

And my idea as in the OP was to create a squeeze page and drive traffic to it from adwords and twitter ads to try to sell money making products of others. I wanted to develop the articles in the blog in the second stage. And I didnt have any SEO illusions especially after google hummingbird update. :-)

I would probably remove the site from your signature. why are you promoting something that is not there yet.
