Which states of USA do you target for advertising?

I recently run two campaigns for California and Newyork respectively.

Both of them became successful.

I want to target states of USA rather than complete USA country now onwards.

I request warriors to give their feedback.

Unless it's something specific to a state, why in the world would you want to do this?

Some states give better conversion than others for the same product.

That is why I asked this question.

E.g. if you are promoting 'fat loss 4 idiots'', which states in USA you will target?

Four of my sites target Florida or a specific city in Florida.

They are guides to specific things in the state/city. I simply did this because I live here and it is easier for me to add content.

This is good business sense.

Unless your site is specifically about particular places, you wouldnt want to target specific states. If your site is about travel to North Carolina, then you want to target every state except NC. I believe Google also provides way to target by demographics, so if your site is about selling retirement homes in Florida then you would target seniors and aged people. If your ecommerce site doesnt ship to Hawaii or Alaska, then it makes sense to exclude them from geo-targeting. As for the other items somebody in Las Vegas already has physical gambling to go to, I dont think they would be using the internet for gambling online. Itz so much better in person, especially gambling.

all of them to start, then I use tracking202 to see which ones convert and which ones work for each campaign, ramp up the ones that work and drop the ones that don't

That is why I asked to know which states are the profitable ones.

Funny you should mention California and New York: according to Google, just over half of all visitors (and sales) on one of my sites come from those two states!

Google trends ranks states as per high number of searches.

So the demand from such states can be analyzed.

I will start campaigns accordingly.
