Default quoting someone's post

Hello everyone,
This question is on the menial side,
I was wondering about quoting only part of someone's post.
I've seen people do it all of the time but do you hit the quote button and then delete the part of the quote that you don't want to reference or is there another way?

Thanks!

To be completely clear , that is in fact the most simple and easiest way to do it. I wouldn't and couldn't recommend another.

Hope this clears some things up for you.
