Would you ever use a friendly pen name and persona?

I want to know what Warriors think. I'm starting out in Internet Marketing, just wondering how my expertise in a totally different field would affect credibility from my subscribers view?

Either, people will not look on your name for credibility but rather on what you offer to them. If you are able to offer valuable information, from then you will be recognizable regardless of what name you use.

There was a guy on here a while back who was writing under the persona of a middle aged woman for his business, it worked really well for him to write to suit his niche... It might help if you can find that thread.

As far as being from a different field that is a benefit in some ways as you have experience from other areas, it is not a hinderance.

I'm using a pen name for my fiction writing. A lot of people do it for many reasons.

In my coaching and mentoring business I use my real name as I have here in this forum. In my list building and email marketing business I use my real name as I feel it s important for people to see the real me. The same in my content writing business. However, when I write erotic fiction I use a different name.

Anyway, I think many of us might be a little puzzled if we found out Frank Kern was really Myron Grumball

Hey it all depends sometimes on the audience you're catering to. I write as my wife when I'm emailing my weight loss subscribers because it resonates better from what I've seen. So you may need to split test and segment to see what works best

    Hope this helps

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

Who cares what name or who's behind the information as long as it's good? I certainly don't.

I use my real name for my ghostwriting business but a pen name for different genres of fiction. That's a fairly common practice.

Someone else uses my real name as their pen name for writing erotica which is rather annoying

I've seen many people using this technique on Amazon niche sites. It can help to build trust. I've seen people go really far as far as to write entire back stories about their fake personas, have social media accounts in that pesona name and everything.

When marketing in widely disparate niches, this commonly overlooked technique is almost mandatory for longevity.

A quick Google search will reveal a pen name unless the underlying persona has been carefully nurtured.

The thing is that people follow you for your content quality not the name. Your pen name is just an association with your work which looks cool only when you are appreciated among your followers. Therefore, select whatever pen name you want and put all your energy to make sure that people love whatever you are trying to deliver.
