Tips for building a list for your blog readers?

hi,

for those of you who have a blog, do you have an optin
box for your blog for a product list OR your blog list?

i am thinking of creating a blog list but since i dont want
to write another newsletter...is there a way to automatically
give emails for UPDATED blog posts...using aweber?

and if so, anyone know how to set this up?

Feedburner email opt-in works well for this.

I don't think there's a way with AWeber though. Could be. Not sure though.

OR building list for feedburner...which one do you recommend for a blog?

I have an AWEBER account with an opt in box on my blog.

AWEBER has a function called "blog broadcast." You can insert your RSS feed URL in a box on their form and send out emails that go out to the email list with a link to the latest blog post. Mighty handy!

A couple of years ago I stopped using this option because it send double emails on quite a few occasions and I could never quite get an answer why but something about the post looking like a new one eg when updated or something.

However I've recently set up a small blog with this again and it's been fine so far. Just watch out for double sends.

there is also an aweber plugin for wordpress, so you can have people automatically added to your aweber list when they join or comment on your blog. You should use that in conjunction with your opt-in box widget (with some type of giveaway to entice signups)

I use GetResponse and Feedburner... if they want the email every day with blog URLs, they opt-in to Feedburner...

But it's more valuable personally to build a list on an autoresponder. That way you can do your regular email marketing and promote your blog posts here and there. For example, if you wanted to, 2 days a week you can compile a list of new blog posts and send it out through your AR.
