6 months of IM -- what I've learned

I just realized that I started pursuing IM in earnest less than 6 months ago -- it feels like so much longer!

Here are just a few things I've learned since then. Of course, in another 6 months I may take it all back.

1) I believe that there is such a thing as beginner's luck. Maybe it's the result of being naive enough to think that something will work, despite evidence to the contrary. Perhaps it has something to do with the Law of Attraction -- I dunno.

2) Though I want my products to remain on Clickbank, I want my primary sites (the ones I promote in articles and such) to use Paypal. I love Paypal, and I love my Paypal card

3) Long-form sales letters aren't necessarily superior to short-form letters (even VERY short ones).

4) You CAN sell stuff from a crappy Blogger site, and when you switch to a better-looking site, sales may actually plummet!

5) Be careful when applying the recommendations of well-meaning people. Often your instincts are right.

6) When you're starting out and you've determined your direction, careful of the WarriorForum! There are too many opportunities that can sway you from your path.

7) The work done during those times when I feel energized and inspired and am writing like crazy is where the bulk of my income is going to stem from.

8) I shouldn't have waited so long to use Wordpress -- it's awesome and very user-friendly.

9) There's nothing wrong with eHow -- even though I don't post their anymore, I get a nice little deposit every month from the short period when I was posting like crazy.

10) Making money while sleeping feels awesome.

OK, maybe they're not all revelations...

I agree... there really are boundless opportunities
available for making money and it's easy to get
side-tracked! Stay the course, accomplish your
goals, and then start your next adventure

The only way to know is to test, test and test again

Great list and I agree the warrior forum can be a dangerous place for an inquisitive mind

      Cheers,

I like this advice. There's so much energy here, it can really become a siren's call. Now that I've established a model and am working on a site, I try to ignore the posts that don't apply to the challenges I'm currently facing. I still spend at least an hour a day here though.

I wrote an article a day for eHow for my first month, and still get a nice $45 check per month passively and residually. It feels very nice.

#6 is really key. I came here looking for ideas on my current IM project and now my mind is flowing with other ideas, but it started to wander off of my goal.

Love it here, but have to stay focused.
