Is WSO Legit

Thats kind of like asking how long a string is. Depends on the string and the WSO. In my opinion go for reasonable sounding WSOs where you can see how you could be successful and avoid the hyped up ones.

A few things to consider:

1. Buy according to your needs - not emotions. Many of these sales letters hit our emotions - that's what they are designed to do so that we feel that the purchase is a must. Most aren't. There is hardly anything that you can buy today that can't wait until tomorrow after you think through your options and make a rational decision.

2. While most of the information I've seen sold as a WSO works (if we work them), you just simply aren't going to get everything you need in many cases. Many WSOs focus on the birds eye view instead of providing all the details a 100% newbie may need. If, for example, you see a complete guide to list building and it's mentioned that the PDF is 20 pages long, you can rest assured it's far from complete. Compare what is offered to what is free on the forum already. You may can get all you need for free.

3. Be aware of many of the tools such as themes, scripts, etc. WSOs are notorious for hit and run scripts. For example, they sell a super theme but then never update it even though they promise ongoing updates. So, when it doesn't work with the next version of WP (or whatever) you can't use your purchase anymore.

4. Read reviews but pay attention to the negative ones first. On a multi-page offer, I often will start reading from the last page instead of the first. After a little time, the truth comes out many times about the character of the vendor or the real situation with the product. Ignore reviews, for the most part, of low post count users. That's not saying they are bad, it's saying that someone that joined yesterday with 0 posts doesn't have a lot of credibility. If you like the sound of a review, look for other reviews the poster may have given - you may see a pattern of everything is 100% good. Some people ignore reviews from those that were given free review copies. Having said all that, take all reviews with a grain of salt. If the review weren't there, would you still buy the product based on what you see from the vendor? If not, reviews shouldn't sway you.

5. Look at the posting history of the vendor including other offers they've made if any. See how they treated previous customers. See what they have written in other parts of the forum. In some cases, you will find people promising to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams were asking how to get two nickels to rub together a month earlier because they were flat broke. While posting history isn't everything, I normally don't buy from people with none.

6. In many cases, we already have products that tell us how to build a list or write killer sales copy or whatever but we simply haven't used what we've already purchased or downloaded. If you haven't used the stuff you already have, what makes you think you really need what is new? Oh - the sales letter convinces you that this is the last thing you'll ever need to get rich. But the prior ones you bought probably did too. Use what you have already and then if you need more get it but don't keep buying stuff and then not use what you buy.

7. Whether a WSO works or not, has 2 sides to it. Is it good solid information that can really help people? Some are and some aren't. The other side is will you follow what it says. I've seen posts here, for example, that someone claims product X is a scam but then they admit they don't have a website. Why don't they have a website - product X says you need one. While the fault may lie in the WSO itself, sometimes the fault is our own.

There is a lot more but that should get you started.

I have had some pretty good ones in the past that I purchased. Of course I know there are some worthless, rehased ones as well.

So be careful

NOTE : One good thing for Buyers lately : FreeLancer has changed the Rules
again ( which I think will cut down on unethical marketers but hurt ethical Marketers big time) . The WSO Sellers' EDIT option has been totally taken away. I went the other day to change a sentence/subject line in my WSO Post and there was no EDIT button.

I contacted Support and they said it was permanently removed because Shady Marketers were getting their WSOs approved (without the Claims, hyped up BS etc..) and then simply going back and just editing it and putting the outlandish Claims back in

So that crap has stopped.

It does make it more inconvenient for some of us. i.e. testing subject lines and changing them we now have to go to Help Desk get the Post taken down and put it in Test Forum. Then change the Subject line and then get it re approved.

Could take 24 hours or more to get it back up and by that time your off the first page for one sentence change.

Oh well goes back to that saying a few bad apple ruins it for everyone or something like that lol

But to be honest Freelancer is not really making it worth our Time to advertise in that section anymore. And just a ghost town anymore

Like with anything some are legit, some are somewhat truthful but overly exaggerated and some utter lies

Someone posted a negative respone to one of the WSOs and I quoted him asking what the performance was in month 1 (he was now in month 3) and both his post and my quoted response was deleted.

Who deleted it? Can WSO OPs delete posts and therefore potential negative reviews?
