Clickbank Question - Gravity vs Popularity

Hello,

I have promoted clickbank products off and on over the years, but I've always been curious as to what is most important when filtering a topic in the marketplace.

Gravity or the Popularity and Why????

Gravity is based on how many different affiliates have made a sale in the last 90 days. It is no indication at how well the product converts other than a lot of people have made at least one conversion.

Popularity takes into account all of the factors such as gravity, price paid to affiliate, affiliate commission %, the volume of product sold, and the % of sales ref by affiliates

I prefer to filter products according to gravity. High Gravity products have good sale volume and low refund rates.

It should be based on your ability to convert plus sales page integrity

    Forget those filters.

You need to understand that a product can be sold regardless of how many people are selling the product.

I'm selling a CB product that's literally sourced from public domain content. There's not a lot of other sellers based on CB Gravity but the product sells pretty good on my sites.

My point is, just because the masses can't/don't/won't sell a CB product doesn't mean you should skip the product. Match traffic to the product. Maybe you have a good source of traffic that matches a CB product with a low Gravity.

Focus on what you can sell and forget what other people can't sell.

I think gravity of products are over rated, i have sold hundreds of products on Clickbank with a low gravity compared to products with high gravity. Products with a high gravity are usually too competitive in the marketplace.

You may be missing out on some real gems by filtering your search using parameters that have nothing to do with the product itself. The top selling Clickbank products I promote typically have a gravity between 3-11. It's not unusual to have daily sales well into the hundreds for products with single digit gravity and/or low popularity metrics. Product quality relative to my targeted audience is essentially the only criteriia I use when selecting a Clickbank product.

Go for gravity. A high gravity means that a lot of affiliates are selling the product. This is a good sign. However, it also means
there are a lot of affiliates promoting the product, which means more competition. I believe if you find a good solid
product with a good niche that has a low gravity, that means if you work it hard you will have a good chance for success.
    There isn't as much competition.

    Hi LoriDori4:

Most of the gurus will tell you to look for a gravity score between 20-30 or more. Don't select the product with the highest gravity because they are very competitive. Select a product with the second or third higest gravity score. Since gravity is a measure of how many affiliates are promoting the product.

Popularity is a measure good measure, but gravity is a better measure since it directly relates to sales.

This is a popular misconception, but gravity has absolutely nothing to do with sales. I know of some Clickbank affiliates quietly pulling in 4-5 figure incomes every month with products in the low single digits.

The most important thing I personally do is:

Buy the product I want to market that way I can:

    • give an honest, credited review
    • I can market more professional and be more relevant
    • I know what I am promoting is off good quality

Well I think it depends on what kind of site you are planning and what is the competition like. I usually don't visit clickbank before i have a general topic in my mind or i browse clickbank for a topic. Then I choose some products from the top and see how well is the competitors site built, if it is well i choose something with gravity in middle and see how the comps site looks and so on.

sell the product that helps your audience

if you have more than one option (assuming they all provide the solution to your audience's problem)

then go with the one that has the best sales copy
