Does 25k for this deal sound good to you?

I have an opportunity to work in LA as well transfer ownership of a FB page with 1m likes to the company.

I would still be driving the ship. Creating pics, vids, etc, but the page would ultimately now be their asset

This is kind of a grey area and unique situation. Looking for all opinions as to what you think and if you would accept.

What are you talking about? A company in LA wants to buy your fan page for $25,000 and have you come work for them for what, exactly?

How much money are you making from the page?

Originally they just wanted to buy my page. Then as they got to know me, they offered me a position as their social media manager who would run both the newly sold page and work on other pages to grow them as well.

Right now I've made 20K+ YTD

Gambino brings up two good points. Also what niche is this fb page in?

Depending on what niche, it could be undervalued.

Also are they willing to pay you for that position?

Personally, it was highly undervalued. I just want to see how others would feel about it.

It is a popular tv series. 50m+ reach per month / 450,000+ talking about this.

Yes, they would be cutting a check for the page as well as a salary.

Hmm.. That's tricky. The value definitely seems on the low side, but at the same time... Most TV shows don't stay very popular after they are concluded (unless of course it's something that could stand the test of time and has a brand built around it AKA game of thrones)

Assuming your TV show fan page isn't something you expect to last beyond it's end date... I would consider selling while the craze is still big. But I think you could easily get double what they are offering. However the position they are offering might be worth more than the extra 25k you could get...

I think it's worth thinking about assuming they will honor your employment contract and not just fire you after a month.

I agree completely. Time and relevancy are huge factors. However, this show has been official renewed for another 3 seasons. I'm not sure if it has the brand strength such as GOT, but the fans are definitely very dedicated and obsessed with this show.

Also, they only offered me a 50k salary to relocate from the East Coast to LA, which is no where near enough to cover my expenses or cost of living around LA.

I'll also add that this company has and will be acquiring large media contracts with the big dogs. My current influence is also many times theirs.

Edit: I'd also like to add they want to acquire my IG page and Snapchat (64.3k and 40k followers respectively) for that same dollar amount...

I think you're going the wrong direction here....

You own the assets they want....

They want you to move to LA and work for roughly 25% of what you should make given the cost of living?

If I were in your shoes....

First, I'd sell the assets at "fair" market value... forgetting about the "employment" offer.

Second, I'd work as an hourly Consultant from your current location. You've already proven your skills and value... There is no need for you to uproot your life to be micromanaged in LA. You won't be the first person in the "Internet Age" telecommuting. :-)

You may also want to write your Consulting contract so it has a minimum number of hours per week... and a minimum number of years.

Hit them with a counter offer and see where they position themselves. It sounds to me like they want to make sure you don't go starting another site and they want to use your skills for their benefit. Hence the low paid job offer? As for site value, who knows?

I am working on my counter offer this week. Honestly I'm so in love with my page and my fans that I would need something ridiculous to their standards. Like 300k.

Im not willing to let go for a quick couple of thousand. I see more future potential.

In terms of financials.. what is the page producing for you right now? anything? Online real estate is only worth a multiplier of its current income... if you are not in some way monetizing now.. its honestly worth nothing to you but has value to the potential buyer - but placing number to that value, that is where it gets tricky.

Since you seem to already be on the inside... the value can maybe be determined... somewhere within their organization is the guy / gal that KNOWS the actual dollar amount they have determined each of their viewers is worth... get that number multiply by the number of Sub / average post views and you can then set a rational arguable value to the number you would be asking for

I believe that is an interesting deal, I would definitely take it if it will improve your profits and your quality of life.

Its true that selling the fanpage you worked so hard on will be a sad thing, but I believe you must be willing to make those kind of things in this market.

Great feedback Rich. I've been considering this approach. I would love to sell my asset for a fair price and continue living where I am and invest my earnings.

I will be countering them by the end of this week. Will update!
