Whats Your Favorite Infoproduct Payment Structure?

Hey guys,

so after months of preparation I want to finish my eCom related online course this year and start advertising it. I have a very small (yet growing) YouTube channel with free content and a lot of groups etc. with people who I've helped a lot, so the marketing part will be interesting in the end.

However, one of the main things that are missing is the final payment structure. So far I've come up with these three possibilities:

1. Big one-time payment - Download

Pro:
  • I earn the value thats really inside the product
  • Lowest amount of work (no added content later on, simple download)
Contra:
  • People might be scared away by a huge payment
  • No added dynamic content from the customer perspective

2. Big one-time payment - Membership Subscription

Pro:
  • I earn the value thats really inside the product
  • Customer might be more likely to buy because he will get more content over time
Contra:
  • Customer will expect constant content, maybe will see a lack of frequent content (in his eyes) as a reason to refund
  • Much more work for same amount of money
  • Administration of the membership site itself

3. Small monthly payments - Membership Subscription

Pro:
  • Possibility of longterm, recurring customers
  • Lower entry barrier for the customer (monthly cancelable)
Con:
  • Customers might only do first month and get the majority of information for a very small amount of money
  • "Fear" of subscriptions some customers have (many prefer one-time payments)
  • Probably a little harder to apply later discounts and promotions

What do you think about my lists? I'm pretty new to infoproducts so maybe I forgot something or made a mistake. I'd be happy about any advice and help

Cheers!

I definitely like a small trial then into a recurring model.

Something I also really like, but it's way easier to execute in a SaaS business model in my opinion.

Yes I would have to agree. You will be hard pressed to get the one off payment initially. If you followed that route you would need to wait till the good reviews rolled in before you started seeing a decent revenue I think.

They get an ecommerce academy, with a ton of courses, interviews with other experts, case studies, regular live webinars etc. I don't know the final number of content hours yet, but since I know some other courses I can definetly say it's a unique and professional approach.

With small monthly payments I mean something like 47 to 97, with a big one maybe 397 or 497. Since there are tons of WAY more expensive courses in Ecommerce out there (which are not that advanced at all) the price seems ok to me.

I favour big one time payment (with option to pay in 2 or 3 instalments for 25% more) with mix of download and membership content. Idea here is to give them something substantial to download as core, with peripheral support via membership (supporting exercises, guides, resources, interviews, weekly coaching or Q&A calls for 3-months, etc...) Not only does this give them additional perceived value but it helps you get over the 30-60-day refund period by giving them a place to go to get additional information and help over first 90-days.

You can then optionally extend the membership portion if you want - but you have to have content that will hold them otherwise renewal will be low.
