EZA - Are Your Eggs In One Basket

I notice the frantic thread about the Ezine Articles downtime.

As I am writing this I have just checked and in my browser anyway the site is still down.

Although I am confident that the site will recover shortly as they have always been consistent and I am sure that they will not want to miss out on any of the lovely Adsense revenue they make on the daily.

Anyway I can imagine that thousands of busy article marketers are horrified to discover that what has potentially become a central plank of their business is all of a sudden experiencing a few problems.

Can you imagine if the impact on all those marketers who have all their eggs in the EZA basket????

Which leads me to my point really. To build a long term sustainable business you need to spread your risk, build in contingencies and back up your work

1) Spread your risk - Think about this if Eza, Clickbank or one of the other very popular sites disapeared would it wipe out your business? My advice is to research and develop more than one marketing strategy (within reason) and more than one revenue stream.

2) Build in contingencies - Ask your self what if the worst happened ... and plan for it. Have a disaster recovery plan.

3) Back Up Your Work - Make sure you keep copies of every single article you publish, back up your sites, blogs and PASSWORDS. Sounds obvious but in my experience many people still do not do this on a regular basis.

Hope this inspires and helps some of you guys ... in the meantime come back EZA really soon lots of us love and miss you.

John

At the end of the day you will find yourself dependent on some other site always. If not EZA...Then maybe squidoo, hubpages or maybe even natural google results. But none of them are trust worthy...Technology can change overnight and you can go from the 1st page to the 10 page on google listings.

The best way to deal with this is to invest in other ventures which are not internet related...Which means real offline stuff.

Very good point there. As long as you save your articles somewhere, I guess you should be safe, because you can always submit it again at a later stage. But yea, it would definately through everyone off for quite a while, there are no article directories that come close to EZA.

Maybe we should try and promote other articles more so that EZA doesnt carry this big of a monopoly in this sector.

    Yes - I agree.

I am sure we all use EZA on a daily or weekly basis, so it will hit a lot of people hard. BUT, whilst EZA is down, remember that it should NOT be your only port of call.

Absolutely Mubarak spreading the risk is essential. Take the point about using hub pages, squidoo and so on.
