Default Proof That Traffic & Site Authority Don't = Money

So I was at this site Revision3.com today and I noticed that in their forum section the Adsense Ads being displayed are Public Service Ads!

What that tells me is that the traffic on that site is all junk traffic. It must not convert. Even though the site itself is a PR7 and the forum is always stock full of active users.

I heard that YouTube is struggling to remain profitable as well. I guess video sites are not the place to be. I'm glad I didn't try to start some type of "niche" video site if this is the path they take.

Youtube is losing a lot of money, and it could be gone one day due to its lack of profits. The ones that profited from youtube were the people that sold it to google.

I don't know why youtube doesn't charge an upload fee. It would help get the junk out and pay for the site easily.

Youtube is on the cusp of becoming profitable. They're offering a few paid models, like Hulu.com is for syndicating TV/Movies.

When PSAs are shown, that just means that either the adsense was just put on the website or the adsensebot hasn't come through and indexed/categorized the site's content.

Not necessarily. If you just add an AdSense block or make some changes, it's going to show public service ads until the bots crawl the site and figure out what kind of ads to display. I bet if you return later you'll see ads.

Cheers,
Becky

As R Hagel stated, if a recent change has been made to a Google Adsense unit, public ads may be displayed something like a placeholder until the bots come around to crawl.

You can also set your AdSense to display nothing if no ads match your page.
