Good day,

I have a quick tip for everyone concerning Wordpress.

I am working on a new site and I decided to use Wordpress. I wanted to add some tables and I could not see any tables button. After searching all over the Wordpress Admin I tried another way.

I created the table with the images and info on Kompozer and then tried to copy and paste the HTML code into the Wordpress HTML view of my post. That also did not work

Only after spending about 20 minutes on this did I decide to try and Google it, and there in front of me was a plug in that will easily allow me to create tables.

Moral of the story: If your way does not work, or if you are struggling then simply search for a Wordpress plug it will most likely help.

That's all for now, please feel free to share your Wordpress tips there for new and old users of Wordpress - we can all learn from each others mistakes/tips

Don't forget to change the privacy settings for a new site.

For some reason it's auto set to 'block search engines' now.

Only noticed after spending a week trying to figure out why the hell a site I had was not being indexed.

Usually can get it indexed in a day.

      DAM Wordpress!!!!!!!

Thank you for reminding me. I am been adding backlinks and working very hard to get my one site indexed and I just could not get it done. I just checked the setting and it was on private.

It is a stupid idea to have the privacy on default, it should be the public option.

      Thanks for the reminder

WHILE TRUE -- you can change the default privacy settings at the installation/upgrade screen -- it's much easier to do there

An easy way to create tables is to create them in a program like Dreamweaver first, copy the HTML, and paste it into your Wordpress post.

There's an even easier way to insert tables. Install Tiny MCE Advanced, go into the settings of the plugin and add the tables button to your post editor. Then you can easily add tables right there in the editing window.

Thanks for the tip Kess. I will have to try out this plugin. I don't know how much time I have wasted trying to get things to line up properly.

It's easy to create table in post. Just write HTML tags in html mode. For simplicity you can create table in dreamweaver and then paste in post

I actually like it as it lets me get everything set up and in good form before the bots come to visit.

That way I don't end up with "Hello World!" getting indexed, and I can make sure there's a nice solid meal ready for the bot when it gets there.
