Can i promote affiliate products offline like this.......?

I was walking through my local flea market today and an idea popped in my head. Can i promote affiliate products/programs inside the flea market? Like set up a space and promote for example Verizon Fios internet. Id have a table with a computer so potential buyers can test the speed of it.

Also i would offer a cash incentive if they signup there they would get cash right away say $20. If they don't want to signup in the store i would give a business card with my web address.

I think its a very good idea! I got a price on renting the space its starts at $50-$250 for 3 days the place is only open fri-sun.

Thoughts?

You may run into an issue having a ton of signups coming from one IP. So I'd have them signup at home.

Also you need to make sure the offer you are promoting allows incentives.

And my main issue would be giving someone $20 and hoping they went home and completed the offer.

Doing it the way you suggested above I think you'd just be handing out a bunch of cash for free. Which I am sure a lot of people would love but you not so much.

Good luck with the venture though. Always good to try different ways of making things work.

    Here's a problem.

How are you going to hook up FiOS at the flea market, since it's a fiber network that goes to your home?

Its a huge indoor flea market with store spaces. Im sure i could get it hooked up there. They have FIOS booths inside malls why not in a flea market? The foot traffic is insane on the weekends at this place!

They have a window/siding/roofing contractor set up a store just to get leads. He told me if he gets 1 customer it pays his whole years lease! Thats a different ball game then what im planning just making a point of the odd things people sell in flea markets.

Also i just used Verizon as an example there are obviously many other affiliate programs.

p.s. the $20 cash incentive would be given only if the customer signs up in my store right on the internet. I would have a computer set to my website with my affiliate id in it that leads to the main Verizon website.

        edman,

For what it's worth - I think it would work

We have people sitting in the wal-mart where I live who are comcast affiliates and hand out cash on the spot and always have a line of people

        • I think your best bet is to find affiliate programs that offer a custom coupon code tied to your affiliate ID. One of my clients, DentalPlans has a whole offline marketing section on their site where you can get post cards, for instance, with your discount code printed on it. So when they go home and want to sign up they are incentivized to use the code on the card.

As Ricky Parker said there is a issue with signups coming from one ip.

Be sure to talk to your affiliate manager and get a green light prior to going out and renting the space.

If you can't throw away $250 to test it and want to be on the safe side, start with renting only for 1 day if you can, if you dont get a single customer in 1 day, the other days wont be that much better either.

Besides that, there is no reason it shouldn't work, unless everyone who wants internet in the area already is with Fios

I had an idea to make business cards up with my blog address and leave it in strategic locations, such as my beauty salon, doctor's offices, etc. What do you guys think of this idea to increase traffic?

As long as you get permission.

Figure out a way to JV or whatever you wanna call it with these places so both you and them can benefit.

That way you not only have their permission but they also now has some sort of incentive to actually push your stuff.

      Yes this works.

Another idea is to write up a Press Release for your local media. You could push the "Organic" element. Make sure you have something free for visitor listed in your release.

Send a separate note to your local radio station that you have valuable tips to give their listeners via a phone interview.

Also, any advertising that one would do for an offline business can be done for an online business.

This is often overlooked by Internet people like us because we are always thinking that we can get more hits from Google.

The reality is that if you advertise in an average size city you can often get a steady stream of visitors that competes or surpasses Google traffic in competitive niches where you are having a hard time ranking well.

Why not give free CD's away? Promote them with ISP reviews, discount
coupons and other resources that people might need if they're not online
yet. Of course you'll have your affiliate inks plastered everywhere in the
    contents.

I think I would focus on building the list and then selling all of my affiliate offers via email. You can still offer the incentive for the immediate sale but the ability to put the offer in front of them on a regular basis has got to be a money deal.

  • I agree with the reply that you may have problems with your IP address. Making a catalog of what you are promoting even brochures about your website could work. Mailers are another way of getting the info out there. find a target area and there are websites that will send out mailers in a circler pattern from a localized location. So go to the rich "Hood" find the center and get the address.
