What about from your list? You can do a ASK campaign
or survey and I consider that as a research too -
knowing what your list like and will buy. =)

It depends on the kind of research you need. In my team I
have researchers, writers, editors, graphic designers, etc. The
researching is usually the easiest job and not as expensive
as what the others do. So - it really depends on the kind
of research you need done.
