Having Trouble With a PDF I'm Posting for Download

Ok, so I'm a techie-illiterate. I'm trying to upload a PDF through filezilla to be downloaded from my website.

What folder do I put it in?

I put it in the public.html folder and it just gives me an error when I try to find it.

What am I doing wrong guys?

The link to the file will be case sensitive. MyPDF.pdf is different than mypdf.pdf.

So, if your domain name is mydomain.com then the link to the second file would be:

    http://mydomain.com/mypdf.pdf

    Hi,

You can put it wherever you want in the public_html folder. I would recommend, create a folder with an obscure name, put your PDF in there and add a blank index.html so the folder isn't exposed.

For your download link, go with:

    http:/ rsite.com/folder_if_used rpdf.pdf

After you put your download file wherever, create the link, copy/paste into your browser and verify it works.

    Thanks,

    John

Make sure you're uploading it in the right "mode" -- there's "ASCII" and "Binary" settings within your FTP client. Just set it to automatic if it isn't already.

    Hope this helps!

      Hey,

Keep in mind that if you place it in your public_html folder, then you are really placing it in your root directory.

What I mean is...if you palce it in public_html rfile.pdf, the link is yourdomain.com rfile.pdf

If you put it in a folder like download, ie public_html/download/ your link would be yourdomain.com/download rfile.pdf

      Hope this helps...
