What to do with a Google Finance News site

I've been out of the IM/bloggin game for several years as I focused on buidling my Amazon FBA business. Now it's time to add some additional income streams.

I recently discovered one of the neglected sites I've owned for many years is actually showing up in Google finance news feed.

The past week I've written a few articles about specific companies, and the articles get indexed in 2 minutes and show up in the Google Finance news feed for the subject company.

That seems exciting, but it takes me WAY to long to research and write a good article. What are the best options for scaling content for this site? VA writers doing a bunch of articles every day? Automated robot writing software such as AutomatedInsights.com? Or something else?

I really think this site could be a goldmine, but I'm really not sure how to scale it. Open to any suggestions, and also open to some kind of partnership/JV with an expert in this area.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

That's funny, I just posted about this subject yesterday.

I haven't tried automatedinsights but they look like they could provide the content you need. It's basically fill in the blank data and fits the stock niche.

At $250 for 1,000 articles you could try one month and drip feed 2 articles a day (every 12 hours) on your site for an entire year.

    Hey.

Firstly, that is super weird that you would just show-up in Google News. It takes a lot to get into Google News. You have to apply and you need contributors. Most people get rejected!! So congrats!!

To get writers - Reach-out to people in your niche. Small bloggers who could do with exposure. You can offer them a regular spot - provide them with an author bio etc. Many people will jump at this chance and do it for free.

You can also offer writers rev share on Adsense - lots of webmaster with News sites use arrange this type of deal.

I would be very wary of using automated or low quality content. Google News has strict journalistic guidelines - not adhering to said guidelines will eventually get you slapped.

    Anyway, best of luck.

While I agree that automated content is bad in most industries, I think that the financial markets is the perfect market for automated articles, pulling fundamental data, pricing, earnings, analyst ratings. It's done alot already and there are many long term sites that haven't been slapped. There's only so many ways to write about the price or price target or earnings misses, etc.

As long as the automation is set up correctly it should read fine and add some value. My concern is how long it will take to correctly set up the automation.

The more I think about it the more I think I need a partner who has done exactly this, and do some sort of revenue share.

thanks to all who offered their input.

I would not do rev share. That's just asking for a headache.

Besides, the average writer with an Adsense account most likely can't write any better than an automated article from somewhere like automatedinsights. Most folks reading those types of financial sites (stocks) are looking for data to make a decision (ex: buy/sell stock).

The $250 for a full year of content is pretty much free content. It's $0.68 a day. You would most likely come out way ahead compared to rev share.

For automatic writing use WP plugin "PIPES"

Your right this definitely could be a goldmine if approached properly. Financial articles grab super-high adsense ad rates. There are sites in the finance niche paying writers $50+ per article, some as a flat fee. You know they must be getting at least 4 times that in CPM. I think you already have the right idea, either hire some talented writers in the niche on a flat fee basis or try the automated approach and see what kind of results you get. Either way you could have something very lucrative.

I remember when there was a huge rush with tonnes of people jumping on the bandwagon where Google new sites were concerned- the fact you've just got one lying about is brilliant.

As you've mentioned already, I think you are sitting on a goldmine.

How much are you will you willing to invest?

You could start either hiring one VA and monetize the content from there.

First and foremost I'd 'template' or write down all steps for the whole process of researching and article, writing, posting etc. everything.

Then go through the steps to check everything works smoothly.

Only then Outsource To a VA. If you do it properly you could have a great project to work on.

Personally, for a Google news website I'd keep the quality HIGH. It'll pay back far more in the long run - Not to mention the reduced risk of waking up.one morning to realise all your work been undone by some 'Google News Pelican Slap'

Good luck though - sounds exciting!
