Wordpress Monetization Question

Hey Warriors

I've just started a new blog in a particular niche following plenty of kw research. I was torn between WP and html and decided to go with WP.

I've started adding articles as blog posts and already started getting lovely traffic from google. I have an aweber form in the sidebar to try and entice peeps to sign up and build a list as well as a couple of adsense ads for the odd adsense click. I've also added a couple of CPA offers at the end of each post to try and entice some affiliate purchases.

So, my question, what's the best way to make money from this blog ???

Many thanks in advance

M

    IMO

First get rid of the adsense and CPA and pimp your list option as hard as you can until you've built a steady stream of traffic and then TEST what monetization works...one at a time...

Too many people try to monetize before building relationships.
    Signature
Action Slider WSO - Slide Up Ad Plugin for WP
Hover Wizard - Monetize Wordpress like never before - using ANY affiliate program in the World

Focus on one objective. If you're wanting Adsense clicks, gear the site toward that. If you're wanting to build a list, concentrate on that. By having both you're diluting the potential of your site.

Blogging is no overnight riches program. You have to keep feeding quality content in your blog and start to make a name for yourself. Here are several ways:

      1) Post at least 3 times a week
      2) Search other blogs (at least 5 a week) that you can make comments to with linkbacks to your blog. (make sure you backlink to interior pages of your blog - not your main domain)
      3) Register your blog URL with as many blog directories you can (freebie directories only) For good measure, make sure the blog directories are in the page rank of 3 to 7. (Use Alexa to find that out)
      4) Search forums and groups and join high membership count sites and get active in them by joining in the discussion. Be helpful and occasionally direct people to your site for more information.
      5) Submit your posts in the form of articles to article directories, such as EZinearticles.com with back links to your blog. (again, interior pages)
      6) Spend at least one day each week promoting your blog URL to the offline world. I pass out flyers face to face to business owners at their place of business that are my target market.
      7) Compose your own info product and sell that on your blog.
      8) Keep reminding people who visit your blog to opt in to your autoresponder system. Feed the autoresponder emails with quality content there too.

There is just too much to mention to market and grow your blog. The more methods you do at the same time, the better your blog is going to catch on with many people and eventually you will develop "critical mass" and have all the traffic you want.

I agree with the previous posts....forget about Adsense. It cheapens your site. If you go Adsense, then just to adsense only....don't mix it up with blog posting and everything else.

      Hope that helps,

      Bruce

I usually get the best results monetizing WP by including a soft sell in the post you're writing or by getting optins and monetizing in email follow-up. My goal is usually to create a really informative blog that people come back to over and over again. Then, every 5 or 10 posts, I'll slip in something promotional. When people trust you (based on the helpful information you've provided in previous posts), they'll be more likely to trust your recommendations.

Most of the time, I stay away from Adsense or banner ads, since I want the readers to think my only goal is to provide helpful information. Including too many blatant advertisements can mess with that trust, making them more likely to ignore my in-post recommendations.

It's definitely worth testing though - every niche is different, so the way your visitors respond to different monetization models is going to be different too.

I've got many sites set up to strictly use wordpress as money pages for adsense redirection. What I mean by this is that I get the visitor onto my page, and then i gently redirect them off my page via ad placement and theme setup. The benefits of wordpress revolve around the fact that google loves wordpress and there are a TON of plugins that assist in the seo process
