Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I am building an online video course in the personal development niche and here is my plan, please add recommendations, criticism or anything else you would add thank you.

1) Create a Search engine optimized blog with articles and start capturing e-mails.
2)Create the video course itself.
3) Drive targeted Traffic using Google/Reddit ads to a sales funnel.
5) Put the product up on clickbank etc.

    Hey KD,

First off, welcome to the Warrior Forum!

That sounds about right, but pretty general. Do you have prior experience? What tips are you looking for?

A pretty general and easy one - but many still don't do it - : split testing. On your sales or opt-in page, tweak the headline a little bit and get some traffic flowing and setup a split test. See which headline "grabs their attention better" and potentially increases your conversion

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Aron

Nop have zero experience lol, got introduced to Internet marketing 3 months ago and chose it as a career path, been shifting from area to area trying to learn everything, from IM to SEO to Funnels/Squeeze pages to Email lists etc to creating videos using videoscribe.

There are many WordPress Themes available for online learning and you find few good ones are free. Google for WordPress LMS - Learning Management System. Then you can do On-Page & Off-Page SEO to generate traffic as well as do some Social Media Mktg./Email Mktg & PPC.

    Good Luck!

Probably add some more avenues to get more Traffic including Facebook and even Twitter.
But you seem have a decent blueprint of what you need to get going, imo

Always remember that putting a product up on any affiliate network (including Clickbank) gives you no guarantees of getting any affiliates at all.

Prior to launch, identify some people who are promoting other similar products or have active sites within the personal development industry and consider contacting them personally to invite them to promote for you.

You could also drive traffic to the blog using PPC for instant results.

It looks like you have a great idea and general strategy. Your 5 steps are pretty broad. I would recommend breaking down each step into a more focused action plan. That way you can start checking off action items as you finish them. If you don't have a very clear and specific plan things can get overwhelming really fast.

Since this is your first IM project you might want to model your course after one that already successful. This can lead to new ideas you haven't thought of and provide a roadmap for piecing all the elements together.

    I hope this helps.
    Good luck with your project,
    Brad

Putting the course on Udemy can be some good exposure.
I'd also recommend thinking of a series of products to offer.
First they take the class. Then they buy a book. Then they take a one on one session. Then they become a member of something. And so on.
Everything is marketing for the next thing.

I was thinking the same thing. Udemy has the traffic and ease of setup for someone new to online e-learning. Plus it makes building a list much, much easier.

Along with Google/Reddit ads, you can use Bing Ads also.

Your Squeeze page for capturing emails need to be professional.

    KD DD,

I would strongly suggest you "niche down" and focus on a specific corner of the personal development field.

Personal development is a huge market and not a niche - it's way too broad a topic for a single online course. Why? Because you want all of your audience and prospects to be similar in what they want, what problems they have, what solutions they are looking for.

Think about this - what good will a course on overcoming anxiety do for someone that has an eating disorder? There are many, many niches within the personal development marketplace and you should focus on just one at a time. If you don't, the majority of your email list will be non-targeted. They will quickly leave your list because you will be talking about things that are of no interest to them.

Do your market research now before you even develop your product or web site to identify the problems and niches that you might address. If you don't do that, you are setting yourself up for the complaint we often hear from newbies . . . "nobody wants to buy my product!"

    The very best to you,
    Steve

One thing I will say is test your funnel extensively before going live on CB!
