Is it possible to write only one post on a niche site?

If that is your main criteria - by all means build a site with one article or a blog with one post. If it were that easy - we'd all be rich, wouldn't we? It's your dime and your time.

There was a time years ago when you could build a "thin" site and might make some money. Those days are long gone but sometimes newbies have to prove it to themselves before they are ready to learn. Good luck to you.

It's possible. Just write it and Post it.

It's also very possible and highly likely that "thin sites " will be frowned upon by many including Google.

If you can only do one Post this is probably a good indication to look for another Niche you have more Passion and
expertise in

Salim, with one article, you'd be better off going for a short report. However, you'll need to spend some time, effort and, probably, money to create (and market) a saleable product.

Trying to think of a way to explain this so it makes sense to someone new to sites/blogs....

If you have ONE page or ONE blog post - or ONE short report - and that is all your site consists of...you will have to work very hard to get visitors to your site. They will be one time visitors so your efforts will constantly be needed to get more and more traffic.

If you have a site or blog where you add new articles/posts/reports on a regular basis you can send traffic to your site and some of those visitors will return over and over to read the new material on your site. You can create an "audience" with a growing online presence.

Any new site must work or pay (or both) to get traffic. If your site has little content to offer - maintaining traffic to the site will be difficult.

As already mentioned, it's not going to be easy to get visitors to that site.

Another thing to ask yourself is do you only want visitors to come to your site once? Why would they ever come back if you only have one article?

Do you want them to buy only one product? Don't you want to expand and have other products and build a sales funnel?

It's much easier to keep customers then to get them in the first place. With only one article you'll constantly be trying to buy more traffic. You'll never build an audience or a base of clients.

But you can give it a try. That's up to you

Thank you guys for these great tips, I think I should not waste my time on this useless idea, I will focus more on something else, I always wanted to have a website about cheap gadgets, a site with different categories, kitchen, tech, gardening... But the problem I always face is finding low competition keywords, especially keywords in a niche I like and I'm interested to work on, that's what preventing me from taking action.

In my opinion having only one article for a niche that you would like to work in would reflect badly on your knowledge. Maybe people may not take you seriously.

There are actually ways to make money with one-page sites, but you can hardly call a website like that a "niche site."

I see a lot of sites like this that are themed like a blog or niche site, but they have around 4 or 5 pages as opposed to only one.

The way they do it is to make the site look like a news site and they create a "news article" for the first page that is actually an advertisement.

I've seen the one lots of times with the headline "Full Time Mom Makes $3000 A Month From Home."

The articles are actually quite long, and usually all of the links on the page are affiliate links for a single product or possibly a few different products that are niche related.

I've seen a lot of of the health related ones that sell the "Real Limitless Pill" or "Super Testosterone Pill."

The thing is though, in order for these sites to work you will need to send paid, targeted traffic to them on your own. They won't get any organic search engine traffic. Most of these sites are getting traffic through media buys, mainly PPC/PPM/PPL. Native ads are also becoming huge. Buying traffic from sites like Taboola and Outbrain can even get you exposure on huge authority sites that are receiving thousands of targeted organic visitors every day.

In some cases, the owners are spending thousands of dollars a day on traffic. However, if it's done properly, there is lots of money to be made. Some of these sites will also include native advertising on their site. It's done to help cover their costs. It's basically arbitrage. If the people don't buy your product, maybe they will click on an ad on your site and you can make a small profit. This helps to pad your final profit (or lessen your loss).

This type of business is surely not for the beginner. If you don't know exactly what you are doing, you can lose your entire investment capital FAST. I would recommend doing a lot of research and starting very small at first if you intend to try this. You can also test your site on social media beforehand to get an idea of what kind of interest the site can bring and whether or not the site will convert. It will need to convert at a certain percentage or else you'll end up in the red.

Start out by testing the site and when you get a winner, scale up your advertising buys. A big problem at this point is that people often go into denial. They have worked hard on the site and when it doesn't convert well (or at all), they don't want to believe that the site might not be very good. It's only natural to want to believe in your work, but you must be realistic and understand that sometimes your work might suck. That applies to all of us. Don't fall into this trap. If the site doesn't do well with testing, do not roll it out and start buying traffic. Tweak it and re-test.

I've been working full time on the Internet since 2008, and I don't even mess with this because it's very difficult to do. I'm all about list building. It's pretty much a safe bet as long as you are able to add fresh targeted subscribers to your list every day. Of course, it's not quite that easy, but it's a heck of a lot easier than paid traffic.

I don't know what the OP's experience level is. I can only assume by wanting to create a one-page site that it may not be too advanced. Of course, I could be wrong. Acting on my assumption, I would give the following advice:

Find a niche you are at least semi-knowledgeable in and/or passionate about, and build a real authority site. The idea is to publish really good content, not junk. Make sure the site is attractive, but simple to navigate. Make sure you do proper on page SEO. If you use WordPress, you can grab the Yoast SEO plugin for free and it will help you to make sure your on-page SEO is perfect. Don't worry about building backlinks. What Google wants, and therefore what you want, is for people to like your content enough that they naturally link out to it. If you want to take a shortcut, you can try messing around with a PBN (private blog network), but I don't bother with those. I just let it happen naturally.

You'll want to publish at least 3 times a week, and you'll need to make your stuff good. Look around in your niche and find out what's trending and what content people are sharing and start creating stuff that's similar, but original. The best way to find out what's hot in your niche is by using a site called BuzzSumo. They offer a free version but it's limited. If you are serious about creating a popular authority site, it might be a good idea to go for a paid membership. The reality is that you will need to spend money if you want to make money online, and this is surely a good investment for anyone who wants to create an authority or news site.

Another way to find out what is trending is by following popular hash tags. You can use Twitter or Instagram to find hashtags that relate to your niche. Once you find 15-20 popular hashtags in your niche, you can monitor those hashtags every day and look at the new posts to see what people interested in your niche are talking about. Then, write some relevant content related to the current trend and share it on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Of course, make sure to use the appropriate hashtags so that the content can be found by the people who are interested in it.

While I'm talking about social media, it's very beneficial to you to go ahead and create social media accounts around your new website. You should have a Facebook page or group dedicated to your website, and you can share your new content there as soon as it's published. You should also create a Twitter account and Instagram account dedicated solely to your website or brand. Keep these separate from your personal profiles. Those should be reserved for friends and family.

If you know how to make videos, create a YouTube channel so you can turn your posts into videos and publish video articles. If you're comfortable on camera, you may even want to start your own show around your niche and your website. It doesn't have to be complicated or fancy. You don't need any fancy editing software. A decent webcam and Windows Movie Maker will do just fine. You can sit in front of your web cam and give your opinion on current happenings in your niche. Open a good dialogue with people and they will want to learn more about you and visit your site.

In the beginning, don't include any advertising on your site. Don't monetize it in any way until you are getting some decent traffic. One thing you should absolutely do, though, is use the site to build an email subscriber list. Include several different opt-in forms on your site to make sure every visitor is given the opportunity to subscribe at least once. Also, publish a special page on your blog where people can opt-in and you can use this link to share with people specifically to get them to opt-in. It's basically just a squeeze page on your blog.

You should also make it well known on your social media accounts how people can subscribe to your list and what they will receive if they do. It's good to have a dedicated page on your blog for people sign up for your list because if you set up a Facebook page for your site, you have the option to set up a "Sign Up" button on your page.

If you have an authority site that is pumping out engaging content, sometimes the only thing you need to offer people in exchange for their email address is the benefit of receiving brand new content directly to their inbox as soon as it's published. If people like your content well enough, that's all it will take to get them on board.

Another tactic that I like use is a giveaway. I will give away an actual physical product once a week and in order to be eligible to win the item they need to subscribe. This works incredible well. It's also a great idea for an article because once a week you can post about who won the prize and talk a little bit about them. You can maybe get them to take a picture holding the item and you can publish that in your post. It doesn't need to be an expensive item, either. It can be something as simple and cost effective as a DVD, book, $10 gift card, etc. You can always sweeten the pot and offer a digital download (eBook) to every subscriber along with all of the above.
