What Has Been Your Biggest Hurdle For Making Money Online?

What has been your biggest hurdle for making money online?

Has it been....

1.) Motivation
2.) Fear
3.) Money
4.) Pressure from outside sources (family or friends)
5.) Training
6.) Lack of Focus on one thing
7.) Time
8.) Traffic

These are just some of the issues I can think of... and some that I have experienced myself over the years. What has been stopping you from succeeding in your life?

What can help you take the next step? What solutions do you need? Or what have you done to actually become more successful?

Opinions and discussions welcomed!

Thanks,

TedK

    Hey there

You know what I really care what people think so when my family said that making money was for idiots that really hurt me!

However I used that as motivation and I am where I am today because of it and now they respect it when they see I make more money in a day sometimes

than they do in a week, heck I have even taught some family members to work online!

I think #6 is probably what most everyone dealt with at one time or another. But that's the experimentation phase where you try your hand at various things and see what works best for you. Usually it's not motivation but more so trying to figure out what avenue plays to your strengths, be it graphic design, copywriting, seo, sales, product creation/plr, content creation, etc. For me it was lack of focus starting out but once I knew what I enjoyed doing most it was easier to sit down and get things done.

Can definitely attest to this as well.

For me it's been traffic. There are a lot of traffic brokers out there that are simply just hustlers and send you traffic from bots and not real people. Also finding people who really are interested in your offer and are not just "tire kickers". But with patience and trial and error, I am getting better traffic more consistently.

For me it was sticking to one project long enough for it to actually have a chance of making money.

Back in-the-day when article marketing was all the rage, I would get excited about a new project--write like six articles and stop because I was not making money.

Sometimes I think, man, what if I would have only continued on with some of the early projects...oh well.

Traffic is definitely an issue, especially targeted traffic that converts that haven't been overly promoted too.

Being on many lists I can see a lot of people promoting the same products using all the same email swipes. So I know if I am being bombarded than everyone else is also.

    Perfectionism and "what if thinking."

I would spend hours on a web site trying to get every little detail right when in fact no one was even looking at it!

Or I would become paralyzed thinking "what if my copy isn't good enough" or "what if I lose money?"

Now I have trained myself to take action realizing that nothing is perfect. You don't have to be the best at anything in order to succeed.

Look at Dr. Phil. He sells a weight loss book!

Anyway, I now give myself a set amount of time to do certain tasks. Once the time is up I keep moving forward - ready or not.

Once I started doing this I started seeing sales.

Many things end up having fear hiding behind them, but people don't like to admit to fear. We're taught that fear is weakness and that we're not supposed to ever feel fear. So rather than say "the F word" we talk about procrastination, laziness, and just about anything else EXCEPT fear.

Underneath, though, we're almost paralyzed with fear that we'll fail and fear that failure will mean that we're not any good. Our self-image gets battered on a daily basis, and we're afraid of giving it yet another kick if we try something and it doesn't work out.

The only real hurdle is between your ears. Once you get your thinking right, the rest isn't exactly easy, but it's doable!

Mine has been lack of focus, switching from one thing to another. Money was an issue at the start, but I just had to drink tea instead of Coke and shop at the Goodwill for a few years. And spend my own money without being afraid of loosing it.

The biggest challenge of my making money online the first time I started was Shiny Object Syndrome.

Not focusing on one single thing until I perfect it. When I stop running after one shiny object after another, focus came and so did money with it.

However the biggest challenge of people trying to make money online is the issue of having the absolute wrong mindset. Success starts with the mindset. When you have the right mindset, every other thing changes for you....

Most businesses boil down to marketing and selling. E-Commerce is so mature that you have to come to the table with something that offers additional value to a product (assuming you don't invent your own product). It is still possible to get relatively cheap, targeted traffic but nobody is going to give up those trade secrets for free - you have to figure this part out on your own. Most regular businesses take 2-3 years to become profitable, are you willing to stick with it for that long?
