What to do with Domain Names

I have the ability to use 2-3 domain names that I believe may be valuable based on their short names and keywords, problem is I don't know where to start. How do I decide if I convert them to a niche site, write some decent content and use AdSense or go for something else like CJ to monetize?

One domain would have to do with 'getting on top of SEO' where as the other is about email marketing. I dug through CJ to see what's available but personally not sure where to start.

I have web hosting / wordpress / design / IT experience, marketing and SEO is not my strong suit. Jut looking for some advice from someone more knowledgeable than I.

Thank you for your time.

    Hey there!

Welcome to the forum, I would personally stay away from home business stuff, seo etc at first as this will really take you a while to dominate this niche!

However, if you have patience and are willing to learn a lot sure.

Here is my advice, depending on what names you have try a non MMO niche, learn everything and dominate that niche, then move onto the big boys niches!

Beware, a lot of money can go down the drain fast with Adwords!

It's easiest probably to start with selling affiliate products, with, e.g., clickbank.
Pick a niche that you really are interested in, or your likelihood of sticking with it drop exponentially.

Build website with great content (by you it outsourced). Create landing page and use an autoresponder with a nice giveaway (check out PLRs and rewrite one) in exchange for an email address and build your list.

Create a sequence of emails with good value and promote your affiliate products there.

Drive more traffic thru blog articles, YouTube videos, etc to landing page. By then you should have a good idea or what you want to do next.

I think you can start a website/blog about wordpress/hosting technology where you can focus on your experiences and your knowledge. In your blog, you can join CJ/ShareaSale affiliate network and introduce/sale Wordpress themes, image design,...or anything related to your strengths. IMO

I forgot to add that both of these domains are 17 & 19 years old, the websites are BAD, html or cold fusion, I will re-do all content. If domain index states overture value of 5900, is that a valid metric to believe? set daily visitors is 30, based on keyword I assume.

The fact that the domains are old means nothing. Google has "grown up" alot in the past few years and they know what was attached to the domains previously, who owned the registrations, etc. Now that new owners are aboard, Google and other search engines aren't going to boost your rankings based on age. They are all about relevance and your new web sites won't be relevant until you prove to Google that they are.

Value as stated by any web site that estimates value based on name length, niche, etc, etc is going to be way off the mark. Your web sites are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. What gives value to your sites are steady income and lots of consistent traffic.

      Sorry to burst your bubble.

It's all a matter of experimenting. Go slow. Build traffic first, then try different types of ads.

I totally agree with Cantabrewer's comment as she is giving you a very good path. But before you start doing something on it, make a plan.

Do not start with out a plan. And follow your plan. Yes so small changes to the plan as you go, but try to follow it consistently. This is my advice!

    To Your Success!
