Default Is it OK to target 2 keywords in your domain?

Hi there..

I'm just wondering whether is it OK to target 2 keywords in your domain?

Let's say my keywords are "cat food" and "healthy cat" and I register a domain like this , "catfoodforhealthycat dot com"

Will my domain rank for both keywords in SE?

Thanks in advance..

Keywords in your domain matter, but not nearly as much as using the keywords in your backlink anchor text. Not even close. You'll rank for both keywords faster if you start a steady backlinking campaign where you alternate between those 2 keywords as anchor text. Now, keep in mind that there's a trade-off when you do this. It will take you longer to rank for either when you go after both at the same. You have to decide if you'd rather wait a bit longer to rank for both or really focus on just one of them until you get it ranked, then switch to the other. I'm talking about in your backlinking campaign.

Just to muddy the water a bit more... IT also depends on how competitive both keywords are. If one is easy and the other harder, the easy one will show up ranked with many fewer backlinks. You might want to go after that one first, just to see that it works and give you some motivation for the harder keyword.

John

why not buy 2 sites and make each one laser focused on a single keyword?

Also, if you can, get a pre-owned domain that has had a live site on it at some point in it's URL life (lots of cat related pre-owns available). Pre-owned domains gain authority and translate into traffic much much faster!
freshdrop dot net is where I get pre-owns
