How many productive hours?

Hello Warriors,

I have been looking at how many actual hours of hard core work I do a day and I am not including checking emails twitter ect I ma talking about actual productivity.

I dont do many hours at the moment because I am in caiirns and the beaches are awesome for skimboarding however the hours I do I am very productive.

I work 50 minute hours... Basically I work staright for 50 minutes then take 10 mins to either update twitter or read emails or take a walk on the beach ect This makes me a hell of a lot more productive than if I tried working straight!

So at present I am actually only deoing 2hours work a day in reality!

What about you guys?

The really shocking thing is that when corporate productivity was examined across America, they came to the same figure: two productive hours per employee per day. The rest of it is eaten up with meetings and phone calls and corporate BS.

I've found that I can do about four to six hours, but it takes me two hours to get into it, and I rarely get my two uninterrupted hours early enough to get a full work block in. So I'm doing about the same - two hours. But it takes me four hours to do them.

yep that was my findings!

My mind wonders after an hour I am also a tall chap so I like to have a stretch!

The time I am most productive is in the evenings as I have all day to think about what I want doing ect.

Also I have a todo list that I have to hit each day which gets me to my goal at the end of the month which is always leading me nearer my big long term goals!

Thats just me I am pretty odd though!

I work on projects about 4 hours a day. However, I study for about 4 hours a day in addition to that.

I learnt a lot about this from the Time Management master -
Brian Tracy. One of the most important things I learnt is
to "eat my frog first". That is to plunge, head in, into my
most important task and to stick to it, until it is 100%
complete. This way I am able to work straight 6+ hours,
very productively. In the beginning it was very difficult to
do but as time went on, it's now a piece of cake.

Here's why I forced myself to adapt this "eat your frog"
first approach - starting and stopping and returning to
a task reduces the time spent in finishing it by as high
as 60% or more, but if you stick to anything until it's
done, you are able to get it completed much faster.

Another thing that helps me is to first take the time to
make a list of all that I need to do, from start to finish,
to get any particular project completed. With the list
on hand, I then take each item on the top of the list,
do it and tick if off, then I pick the other item on the
list and do it, then tick if off as well... until I am done
with the entire project.

It might be difficult at first, but tell you what - it's
incredibly productive and helps you achieve much more
in every given day.

Finally, I will advise everyone to get Brian Tracy's
Time Management programs. You will achieve much
more than what you spent buying them!

It usually takes me about an hour to "work my in" but once I start I often just keep going in 60-90 minute lumps of time. I take a break of 15-20 minutes then back into it. As the day goes on I seem to work longer stretches at a time when I have lot to get done.

For every 3-4 days that I really pour it on I have one day where total work time is 3-4 hours. But I also have days when I put in 10 hrs or more if I get on a roll.

zero hours... and I think it's because I am afraid of success...sounds silly... but it's my current dilemma!

I feel like I'm working constantly but in reality I often get distracted by things like Forums (damn you Warrior forum) and researching new ideas rather than working on my current project. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm in a REALLY boring stage of my project right now that is crucial but like pulling nails.

When I really need to force myself co concentrate I'll go to a cafe that doesn't have internet and get a table with a chair that faces the wall and put my headphones in without music so I don't get distracted. It's amazing how productive I can be when I don't have access to the internet. I often thought that someone should come up with a script that would block certain websites during certain hours (from a home computer).

LOL I completely understand what you guys meant it took me a good 8 years to actually produce an income... god knows what I was upto.

I'm struggling with being more productive at the moment. There are some major projects I need to get done as quickly as possible but I'm just dragging myself through it at the moment. It's extremely tough to focus sometimes, but what I did in the past that have helped was create a list of things I wanted done that week, then at the beginning of each day, write down the Top 3 things that must be done for that day.

If I really want to concentrate, I sit in silence, close all the windows except the immediate programs I need open to finish the task and go at it hard until it is done. Usually I get distracted though but while I'm in this mode, I try to get straight back into it.

I get things done a lot faster than I intend to if I have a time limit when I want something done by.

Often though there's not enough hours in the day to finish everything on my list (but then that's because I want to spend time with my bf, relax, eat and just enjoy myself too).

Right now the best thing I've found is to get up super early and work first (no checking or emails or statistics) and then screw around later.

I think today I probably did 4-5 hours of actualy work, which is actually not bad for me at all!
