Depend on what affiliate product you are selling. If you're selling actual product, my best guess is Facebook. If you're selling digital product, based on my experience, website has better result compare to Facebook.

Both. I use Facebook to drive traffic to my website. They complement each other very well.

    Why not use both?

Create a FB fan page (free), regularly post engaging content and ultimately send them to your web site or affiliate link(s).

Certain niches work really well for this. You can buy thousands of fitness memes (example) for dirt cheap from places like Fiverr.

Pets is another example. Stuff people really like to share.

It's a pretty simple and inexpensive way to start and grow an affiliate marketing business.

Probably both. You'll need a way to get traffic to your website. That's what Facebook is for.

    I totally agree,

Why not use both to totally maximize your traffic and the amount of sales that you can make.

Also, with facebook you can join or ask to join groups in your niche and then interact with them, and overtime have a bigger audience for the products that you are promoting.

Depends on the product. Facebook can be a gift or a curse depending on what you're selling and how you're describing it. I've seen people have great success with it, but for me, being in the men's dating advice space, they've never been more to me than a uselsess thorn in my side.

    A) No, because no one has a clue about the components of your business, your plans, your strategy, your objectives etc etc.

    B) You're comparing apples with oranges; you have to research where your target market spend its time... and spend your time there too

Back in the day I would have said FB but these days because of so many security and policy restrictions I'm just not sure that they can be trusted with all the hard work you would put on their servers...here today gone tomorrow if you know what I mean.

I think you should have both. I'm using both Facebook and website (not personal blog) to promote products. In many cases and campaigns I need people read my Ads on Facebook and then click on the ads to come on the website and make an order on it. By this way, I can get many traffic from social, and with that traffic I can set up many Re-targeting campaigns to promo more. If you do your own business you probably have all FB, website, twitter,...and many channels to do digital marketing strategies.

    Good luck to you,

My entire business is built around my website. Facebook is a traffic method, not a marketing platform.

Greetings, I use both as your website and Facebook have their own unique role or attribute. The thing about your website, unlike Facebook, you are in complete control of the content, layout, structure, and ultimately, the user experience. Once a lead or potential subscriber lands on your website, you can direct or lead that person wherever you want them to go. Conversely, Facebook is in complete control of the user experience and you have very little, if any, control. What Facebook is primarily used for, as brutecky pointed out, is to generate traffic and then direct that traffic to your website, offer landing page, etc. So as you can see I hope, each tool, your website and Facebook, have their own purpose. Hope this helps!

Both. You could try blogging using blogger or typepad but using a self hosted WP site is much better. I would also add as a must have tool and that is what a website and SM is a tool, is an autoresponder. With out it you will be marketing all the time hunting new customers all the time.

If I was starting out I would use the website as a lead page only. This is where you get people to join your list and build your audience. You can always create a blog on a sub domain later.

    I will say both.

Here is my simple formula for you to understand better.

Blog => Facebook Fanpage => Facebook Ads / Groups And Youtube Traffic => Landing Page => One Time Offer And Upsells => List Building And Email Marketing.

What I learn from Adam Short of NPC.

Without a doubt website, if you want to build a business you need to have control of all you assets , you don't have that with facebook. You could lose you account overnight.

There are plenty of blogs earning 6 figures from affiliate income, I don't know of any that do that amount of affiliate income on FB alone

Just something to remember at all the advice of 'both' - if you do not have the time to maintain both sufficiently, pick one and go all in. As for selling, I would always choose website first, simply because selling on Facebook is technically selling on someone elses turf. You can always start up a facebook as a tool for traffic after you've created a decent sales funnel on your website.
