A number of my clients use GoDaddy hosting for their sites. Setting up a MySQL database used to take 5 minutes at the most. I'm going on an hour now, and the database is still listed as "Pending". Has anyone created a MYSQL database in GoDaddy recently? Am I looking at overnight waits, or only (HA!) a few hours? |

I always dread doing work for clients who are on GoDaddy - nothing ever works properly, especially dealing with MySQL databases. I haven't actually set up a database recently myself, but I know that trying to do migrations to them is always a nightmare. If the db has any weight to it at all, I usually have to use BigDump just to get it to work. So, that probably wasn't all that helpful to you. Hehehe, sorry! I just couldn't resist the urge to vent about what a nightmare it is dealing with GoDaddy hosting and databases. I suppose you've already implored your clients to migrate to a better host? |

Why would anyone use godaddy for hosting. I use it to register domains and host elsewhere. I use bluehost and anytime i have problem installing scripts their 24hr support on chat are of good help and they can even install for you if you experience difficulty

I've found the same Colin - I had to wait overnight as well - I was hitting the refresh button at random intervals over the course of about three hours, but still no go. I don't know why they can't have it instant like everyone else? I think they may have to call the work experience kid on the phone, wait for him to finish his shift at Macca's, and then drop by the office to create the database by hand. I feel your pain, Kezz! I'm the same, Supreme, I use GoDaddy for domain rego, but that's all. While they GoDaddy hosting have their little issues, I've always been able to work around them. This HUGE amount of waiting though, it's just wreaking havoc with a project that should have been complete yesterday arvo. cheers Sam |
