I am friends with a guy who started this stuff at 74 years old. Just got bored with retirement. His handle is old Buddy. You can Google that to find him. Name is Warren. I think it may be oldbuddy.info

You can start an online business at any age mainly because it can be operated anywhere and from the comfort of your home. It's the most ideal business for people of your age but the biggest limitation maybe experience.

If you can find a resource that fits your area of interest and apply it judiciouly then you will excel.

If you can drive a car or work a cell phone you can learn a new skill. Brian Tracy talks a lot about that.

In my opinion there are two things that give younger people the advantage.

    1. They are hungry

Their desire to succeed is relentless because they have so much energy and a more limitless belief in terms of mindset. As you age, you start becoming more "practical" or "realistic" in terms of achieving a goal.

    2. Time

When you are young and single you have a lot more time to work on an internet business. And believe me, this takes time.

Once you have a family it can be very difficult to get that kind of time. It helps to have an understanding partner.

I am sure there are exceptions to this rule but in terms of intelligence or the ability to succeed there is no reason why you couldn't.

I am sure there thousands of younger people who can't make a go of this just the same as older people too. And on the flip side there are people who can - young or old.

But that's a whole other topic.

You are never too old to do something amazing. All it takes devotion and motivation. For instance, look at Nihal Raj. 6 Years old guy who managed to get so many subscribers. Take a look at Warren Buffet who bought his first share at the age of 14.

Look at KFC innovator, read out his inspirational story.
Even look at Tibolli, who is now all set to bring changes into software industry after proving success into the beauty world.

    Sure, you can do it.

    But, here is the thing.

Once you commit to getting started--do just that--pick an affiliate marketing method you know that you will do--

Regardless, if its setting up a free blog or a wordpress blog and writing content and having a banner on the site.

Or putting up a facebook page and posting good content--and then EVENTUALLY recommending products to people

    Or something else.

Find a method, and stick to it through all of the ups and downs and you will be well on your way.

There is a book called "How to Get Rich" By Felix Dennis..

Hes a billionaire who is dead now.

In his book he says that it is too late for you. He goes as far to mention that once you hit 35 years old its over.

You lack the drive, the patience, the courage, the stupidity, and most importantly the energy.

    HOWEVER!

There is one way that he mentions...

Its for you to find someone who is much younger, 20s, to be your partner in crime.

His/her energy, drive, passion, recklessness, will give you the power to push through what needs to be done. Without having a young spirit working along with you it will be a losing battle.

This is if you want to get rich. If you want to make a few bucks on the side...idk go for it i guess, nothings impossible.

Affiliate marketing is a very good way to start, try Clickbank, Amazon, eBay and others to start off with.

Promote other people's products without all the headaches of creating and support.

I would try Clickbank really easy to promote with articles, videos, seo etc.

Your problem is that you feel you have to ask the question.

If you hadn't told us, how would anyone have known your age anyway?

Can you put an age on ANY member of this forum, myself included?

To the best of my knowledge, the Internet marketing industry doesn't recognize age.

    Hi KoKoapa!

It is never too late KoKoapa to start anything (whether having a good life, relationship, create your first million, or anything) as long as you are determine to do what it takes, "success is a progressive realization of a worthy ideal" - this is one of my favorite quote from Earn Nightingale.

If you want to do affiliate marketing, ClickBank is the best place to start. Last month, I listed my own product with ClickBank and to date there are people already making money promoting this product.

In any event, there are several products that you can choose from ClickBank or any affiliate network like Peerfly, Commission junction and so much more.

Just drop me an email if you are interested so I can provide you my affiliate program.

In all honesty, that depends too you.

Your belief will determine how you act. There is no "too young" or "too late" when it comes to entrepreneurship. There is only the choice to do what needs to be done or to avoid that effort.

Your own concept of reality is negotiable. If you think you can do it, you'll act towards doing it. If you think you can't, you won't act or you'll sabotage yourself. Age has nothing to do with this.

So let's say that you start a blog and offer items for sale. What are the chances that your readers are going to search the web for your bio and decide not to buy your product because you're 55?

Age itself isn't an obstacle, but there is a generation gap. Most IM purchases are made by younger tech-savvy buyers. It's going to take a lot of work to get started, so select a field and IM method that you enjoy yet can still relate to buyers.

@Dr los 3 - I read that book by Felix Dennis about 6 years ago (what an entertaining bloke he was). When Felix wrote that it was intended as an 'anti self-help' book. For those that actually wanted to be rich in spite of this, he wrote a condensed version of that book called "88 The Narrow Road". Incidentally anyone that has read Think & Grow Rich would know that 40-60 years of age as per that book are the peak years (but everyone varies according to their journey).

I believe you are experienced in printing field and life. Youngsters often do mistakes which steal years out of them, you would easily avoid it. Hence you are young enough.

Can you meet your old contacts and get printing orders and get it done? If you don't want to do it, then I feel IM is not right for you.

If you can, hurray! make some quick cash offline, invest it to make squeeze page with a video (of the post you have written) Grab their email ID and Phone numbers.
Promise good quality for a decent price. Use this forum for ideas of sending quality traffic to your squeeze page continuously. Meet the leads you get and you can fund for your world trip too!

Bottomline: Make a system which you are good at + send massive traffic to it.

I understand you are more experienced, yet I thought I share my thoughts. Believe in yourself first, magic happens later!

So was it worth all of that time and losing friends, and issues with my Laptop and issues with getting a new one, and lost money, and endless failure?

    Sure.

The thing about IM is when you crack it, you REALLY crack it!

Or forget about a piddling second income, you can think more alone the lines of wealth!

Sure 9 years is a long time, but so is the rest of your life, and most would have given up, (probably because of their naive friends) within 5 years; but l don't give up for anyone or anything.

Success online is more about hard work, some investment and changing tracks when needed. Or keep sorting and sifting til you end up with something that works.

And if that means wasting a thousand on PPC for a year or more, then so be it. It is a steeping stone, not a failure.

    Hi Kokoapa,

No, it is never too late if you are willing to learn and apply.

But at the same time you need to learn from the right people.

As in those who ACTUALLY achieved what you want to accomplish.

But what is it you are trying to promote in affiliate marketing?

Are you marketing physical products like those from Amazon?

Or information / digital products like those from Clickbank?

Or CPA offers whereby you get paid for every lead you generated instead of sales?

Most importantly, who are you targeting and how do you intend to promote?

You need to have these answers and write them clearly as your goals before doing anything.

I may sound blunt but I hope by giving you these, you will be able to consider better as to whether affiliate marketing is really the route you want to take to finance your research.

Not too late. I am younger than that but even in my 20's I felt behind the game. Bill Gates succeeded in his 50's and the gentleman who founded 5-Hour energy drinks launched those when he was approx. 50, I just read an article today, he is a billionaire.
I guess I'll say some opinions about selling physical products.
Affiliate marketing is extremely hard, I wasted much time on it and didn't make a cent when I was living in a great city that had much fun and jobs, and I regret that, it was nothing but a struggle. I would try to launch a product, a drink or clothing, anything physical to sell. I think very few succeed at affiliate marketing and I would try to sell a physical product for $5 or less, sell them in volume. I've started this on ebay.

My digital books (Kindle) didn't sell more than 5 or 10 and I wrote a few, 2 years ago or so, I thought maybe it would boost my income, not sure why those didn't sell as they are decent little books! I lowered the price to $1 or $1.99 and have given up on those, they're a wash.

For me, I want to find one consistent thing that can sell. I can sell things here and there, a strange stove top espresso maker I grabbed at a free exchange yard sale type place sold for $50 or $75, but looking for something consistent. That was just once. If you can find something that you can buy for $1, and sell it for $2 or $3, and you can manage to sell in volume, I think that can work. It's all about marketing. I saw an interesting book at the dollar store, I actually picked it up because I thought it was interesting, Barnes and Nobles is actually selling it for $17. But even if I went to the dollar store and bought all of them, this wouldn't be consistent, I just want something that's the same so I don't have to continuously use all my brain power to try to make money. Maybe go to this dollar store with a laptop, see what Barnes and Nobles is selling, and buy all of them. On the other hand books time take to sell on a site like ebay, you'll have these books sitting on the shelf!

      !
Yep, l get you. People here can rabbit on, but if you are 90 or 100, then odds on you may not make it before?

Don't need it in Heaven or a black hole, whichever comes first!

I have been online for 9 years, and tried creating a info, site, (2.5 years) with pocket money to show for it.

And PPC, 7 months, Creating software to resell, phew, almost a year, SEO, namelists, creating a list, (several, not as easy as Frank Kern, and others make out it is), Fiverr, (slave labour site) and so forth.

And also tried what you mentioned or creating or buying something to resell, or PPC.

Easy to create something that sells in a limited way, but virtually impossible to go beyond that.

But as you said before something that requires little brains and more alone the lines of effort.

I tend to stay with hub sites with their own traffic. Since traffic or finding it without going bankrupt, (Adwords is next to useless) is the hardest hurdle to get over.

Graphicriver, or one of their subsites, (music, photos, software, etc) is a good place to start. Not easy to get stuff through, but it sells well.

As others keep saying, find something that sells, and then outsource it!

I tend to stay with flyers, since they sell well, and can be outsourced.

I have switched to fonts, since l couldn't do flyers quick enough for it to be viable.

But now know how to do flyers quick enough to make as much as l wish, and do it within a few months instead of 8 years.

I obviously won't give away how l can do it, just like you l have been in this game for a long time, and have been frustrated time and time again.

So my advise is, apart from thinking long and hard about IM or PPC, (maybe their is a gold nugget there) go to sites with the traffic problem solved.

Except perhaps Fiverr, you won't get rich there!
