Protect PDF with registration form or custom message?

Hi

I managed to find a way to password protect a PDF file, but it was not exactly what I was looking for.
I've used an online protector, and when I open the file, it just says "please nter your password".

I'd like the protection screen to either display a signup form, or at least a custom message and a link to the signup form.

Does anyone know how to get this done?

Honestly, I just never have fooled with that. Not saying you don't have a legit reason I just never have and never had security problems. Though Iam sure it can happen

This issue has been raised a lot over the years, and the general consensus has been that (in almost all cases) it just isn't worth it...

At the end of the day, the problem is that once you have made a PDF file available to just one other individual, they can then forward a copy of that PDF file to any of their friends/acquaintances - and it is this that you are trying to protect against.

Unfortunately, once you supply the password to that one individual... it's just as easy for them to share the password when they share your file.

There is no way to know/control if a third party subsequently opens your PDF file and simply enters a password that was shared with him/her by someone else. PDF password protection verifies the password internally - not by verifying against your web site.

So you want someone to download your pdf file and then when they click on the file to open it, they are shown a sign up form?

The only way I see that working is if the that function is build into the pdf reader. All .pdf files on a computer will be associated with a specific program to open it. So if that feature doesn't exist within the reader, there is no way to implement it.

Plus there are multiple pdf readers, so it would have to work across all.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?
