Best route to send your targeted traffic?

Hi everyone

I am trying to decide if I should send traffic to a Blog that presells me and then to gently divert that traffic to a squeeze page/salesletter or whether it would be better to send traffic directly to a squeeze page and to then send the prospects that don't buy back to the blog via a newsletter.

It seems to me that a certain percentage of people will buy from you without preselling as long as your sales copy is good and the solution is relevant to their problem. For those that don't buy immediately, you can always presell once you have captured their info.

On the other hand if you send people to your blog, then you will potentially lose people that can't be bothered to look through your site. Those that do come via this route will clearly convert better.

If there is anyone out there that has tried both methods and has a view on which is better, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,

Greg

Why not build your list through your blog, many are doing this. You can provide content on your blog, offer some sort of report, get people to signup and offer your promotions.

If you go this route and offer good content on your blog, then your credibility will be good and they would be more willing to sign up for your list.

    Good luck!

Hi Guys, Thanks for your replies. I guess I'm worried that if I send people to my blog that I will get a much smaller percentage of people opting in and that it will take much longer to build a list. At least with a squeeze page first approach, people have two choices. Opt in or leave. Has anyone out there tried both? What do the stats say?

If you're using blog content to attract visitors then they will come to your blog first. Then you can funnel them to your landing pages.

Otherwise simply send folks to your landing pages.

    Hope This Helps!!

Along the same lines...where should you put your blog, on the root or in a sub-directory.

If you have a site already dedicated to a particular subject then it can have a companion blog who's purpose is to generate visitors to your landing/money pages ( if you're an affiliate ).

The blog can be in a sub directory.

    @ TL

Thanks for your thoughts. I was planning on creating a blog which is basically a mini website that comprises of a squeeze page, salesletter and some articles. The site is to be focused on a specific ebook product with primary articles for credibility and secondary articles tucked around the back for SEO traffic. (NPC style)

I then wanted to create a separate blog that would establish my expertise in the wider market (so I can create and sell related products). In this case, do you think I would be wiser to focus my efforts on sending my intial traffic to the squeezepage on the mini website blog or to my authority/preselling blog?

    @ Alex
    Some good tips there thanks.
