First time E-book writer, need some guidance

Hi I have some questions regarding ebooks.

I'm writing a new book about a spiritual topic. This is the first time I'm writing a book and after doing some research on the net it seems that E-book experts say that usually the first book doesn't sell well and the best thing to do is give it for free or pric it cheap and basically let the first book be an introduction to let people know that I can write and also to create a customer base. And they also said that to maximize profit the best thing to do is write a series of books or break the book into a number of ebooks. This is not a tutorial type of book but rather about a deep topic that talks about the existence of God from the spiritual experiences of the dying. It should be no secret that I am obviously writing the book to make money but truthfully speaking I have always wanted to write a book for a very long time regarding these topics and I also want to help people through my book who have always wondered about God's existence After knowing that there is a very good chance that my first book will not do well and usually the ones that come about later do better than the first one I thought I would write three more books after the first one. And I have a pretty good idea about content . It should also be worth mentioning that I want to give it for free to my friends who are interested to read it. Now my question to you guys are

1. Would it be a good idea to sell my first book at a very low price, say $3.00 or 2.99 (the numbers I am using are just examples but I'm trying to mean that I'd sell them for low price ) and write more later and increase the price ? I don't wanna aim for the sky and not get anything so if my chances of having very low sales for the first book is then I'll rather
break it into four and sell the next ones later and make a series of books

2. I want to sell my book on Amazon Kindle. What other good places are there to sell my book since I'm going to try spread my work as much as I can and try and make a profit ?

3. If my first book fails in selling anything at all, what precautions can I take for my next books to prevent for their failure ?

Would love to hear from those of you who know enough about this Thank you in advance for all the feedback and appreciate it

    Hi:

You can sell your ebook on Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Nobles, and IBook just to name 4 platforms. There are many more out there. It seems $2.99 is where many books start on Amazon. They also usually start with a promo- (Free or .99 cents for a beginning trial period).

If your first book fails then try to start by building a email list first then develop a book around what the people on your list want to read.

    Good luck,

How are you going to market your book?

Simply writing a book and posting it to Kindle (or another site) isn't a marketing plan. You need a way to market your book, or use it for leverage (to get speaking gigs, clients, etc.).

I would also suggest to have a hard copy and an e-book version of your book. E-books are quick sells, but hard copies are good for publicity, sending to influencers, etc.
