I am working with a friend of mine on a website. We plan to monetize the homepage using banner ads (may include video), text links and Google adsense.
Is there any research and results available showing estimated clickthrough rates from a website to the advertisers website from different types of ads such as banner ads, video etc?
The amount we charge for advertising will depend on how many ad views and clicks occur. We want to be able to give advertisers an estimate of how many times their ad will be viewed and clicked by targeted traffic visiting our website, and charge accordingly.
To make this a bit clearer, an example would be where we have 5,000 unique visitors a month. We would like to find out what percentage click on the banner or video ad, and go to the merchants site.
There's a lot of variables involved, but I was wondering if it's possible to forecast an estimated number of ad views and click throughs for this 5,000 visitors.
I hope I've explained this properly, as this will be a new site and we have no previous results to base our estimates or advertising prices on.
