Default Anyone know what antivirus can get rid of this malware?

hi,

i recently got a malware called:
Trojan.Heur.Hype.cu4@aak5pBh

basically, it prevents you from using internet
browsers like internet explorer or mozilla to work effectively (works with google chrome though)...

i tried getting rid of it using different antivirus including:
- bitdefender
- avg
- avast

but they all can't get rid of it...

do you guys know of any antivirus that can get rid of it?

thanks
BJ

BJ - you might try here:
http://www.elitekiller.com/malware dot htm

Grab the "Rogue removal kit"

Actually, this guy's site has a ton of info on anti-virus, malware, trojans, etc.
I had a similar thing happen on my PC - I just followed the step-by-step instructions in the kit.

Good luck!

Back up your data and blast away. Format and re-install.

When you install, partition your disk and put your system files on one partition, data on another. That way next time you have to blast you can skip the data backup part.

superantispyware, whatever you choose make sure you update the program, then do the scan when you are disconnected from the internet.

You can go to trend micro's housecall site online and let it run a scan online to see if it can fix it.

Malwarebytes is superb. If this doesn't help, try SuperAntiApyware or DrWeb

Try Superantispyware. Update it then the scan without you connected to the Internet. If not, just key into Big G and will give you some specific solution by programmers in getting rid of this specific bug/virus.

P.S Make sure that your hard disk is partition so you can easily re-install the operating system on the C drive without too much of a hassle and can be done in less than 1 hour. You might than use a back up program like DriveImage to back up your fresh copy of the operating system with all the installed programs in its fresh state.

Good Luck!

The three layered approach we use is:

F-PROT running on the machine
Malware Bytes (with teatimer) run daily
Spybot run weekly.

Also, user activity is important. For example, don't download illegal software from warez or bittorret sites. Use FireFox instead of Internet Explorer as this will reduce your browser exploits.

Hi BJ,

I personally used the software from ESET - Antivirus Software with Spyware and Malware Protection.

It has been able to clear all the virus and the spyware from my computer.

Hope that you will get rid of the spyware from your computer asap.

BJ - You are welcome!! This guy is amazing - so far EliteKiller is batting 1000. I'm curious which one of the free softwares did the job?

So far I have fixed 3 computers that had so many trojans, and malware the computers they were basically useless. In fact, most people would give up and reformat the HD or go get a new computer.

Yeah, it did take 1 -1 1/2 hrs to run every single antivirus prog (I think there was a total 14 free progs including Superantispyware and Malwarebytes) But, the alternative was at least 4 hours backing up all my stuff and reinstalling the OS and assorted apps, etc. Definitely, no fun at all!!!

I use a suite of tools by Zone Alarm but what has been amazing is their router which is only $200 and it has a built in firewall that has been protecting every computer on my network.

Ooo I bet malwarebytes did the job. It's the only malware removal tool I have on my USB pen for removing stubborn infections from clients computers.

I just bought a new laptop and anti-virus pro from Panda. So far so good, how did you find out your computer was infected?
