How to Make a Site Look Good... Myself?

I don't know how to make a site look nice, e.g. a graphically designed navigation bar with links.

Can someone please direct me in the right direction for designing graphics for a site, on the cheap?

      I personally believe that it's all about the content, format that correctly and you're on to a winner.

      One of my favourite books is 'The non-designers design book', learnt so many subtle techniques about design that can be implemented quickly and easily from that book.

      To make a site look nice it really doesn't need to be very graphical at all. Years ago I used to stick in as many dhtml elements and so on as I could because I thought it would look great, but without the basic design principles mastered it was destined for failure from the start

      That sounded good and got me to bite, but there is only one page that says "coming soon." You are planning to have the site up in a few days are you? Or did you mean to post another site?
