I am trying to see how I can give customer a "wow" when they open up the box?
Without of course breaking my bank.

Any thoughts?

What box? What is your product? Can you share more info, it's very hard to answer without it.

Sorry I think my original post was not clear at all (it was to me hahaha).

Customers buy custom made seat covers for their cars from me.

I want to see how I can give them a "wow" when they open that box.

Maybe I should just simply have a custom printed shipping box, which will also help in marketing?

Have you ever bought an Apple product? (if not, search Google images)

I get the wow whenever I open any of their products, the packaging is just so nice and elegant.

How about you include a card thanking them for their purchase and offering a 10% discount on a future purchase.

Or if that's too much, you can offer a freebie. Since you're in the auto niche, throw in a couple car freshers.

I can definitely do that, but I don't know how that will help me. If I do something which is useful for them and adds value to my product then that would be the best way to go.

well, I ordered a decorative japanese print and in the box there was a piece of chocolate with a "thank you" customer note attached..

    I really enjoyed that,

yea, i know.... unrelated.. japanese print decoration and a piece of chocolate,, but it gave me a wow factor.

all that being said, it was a domestic package here in Japan. I dont if you'd be able to send perishables with other goods domestically in your home country...

    best of luck,

Well at this point they bought the product and they were already sold on what the product can do. The only thing you can do on that part is make sure the product lives up to their expectations.

Beyond that the next thing on your mind should be getting them to come back and buy something else or have them refer you to someone else.

The car freshener or card idea isn't just some random 'nice' thing to do.

It plants an emotion with them.

They open the box and get the product and see you've included a little extra something to thank them for their business.

That adds a personal touch and makes your business more than a faceless entity to them. You make an emotional connection between you and them. That's how relationships are built. That's how you build loyal customers who come back AND recommend your company to others.

That's the real 'wow' factor you should be trying to accomplish.

Since they invested in custom leather car seats, can you partner with another company and include samples of saddle soap, conditioning oil, or some other product which will help them get more service life from their purchase?
